Schofield Called Out for Voting for Cat Tax — 13 Comments

  1. Skillicorn once again does not have a clue what he is talking about.

    There is NO Cat Tax.

However, just like dog owners, cats will have a cat fee.

A tax is where there is an increase for everyone.

A fee is for cat owners only as is a dog fee for owners only.

    Get your facts straight, Skilly.

  2. When the County Health Department first proposed taxing cats (OK, cat owners), McHenry County Blog’s Keeley Cat led the opposition.

It was proposed to stop the spread of rabies, yet feral cats were not included.

The reason then, as now, was to obtain more revenue.

Sadly, Keeley Cat died and no other feline picked up the fight.

On the County Board floor sponsor Tina Hill called it a “cat tax.”

It’s still a cat tax in my mind.

  3. A friend has advised that there are over 200 cats in a local shelter waiting to be adopted.

Compounded by the fact that people don’t spay neuter their animals, therefore passing the burden onto the tax payers.

More reasons as to why Carolyn Schofield be eliminated from Illinois Politics forever!

  4. Skillicorn would be better advised to list every tax increase Schofield has voted for rather than lead with the “cat tax” and then speak in generalities.

Most recipients of his mailing will never make it through the fine print.

If you’ve got big guns, why use a peashooter?

  5. The most devastating pieces are timed to hit in the last three days when the target has little to no time to respond.

Schofield is dangerous as a political person to those she proposes to represent.

She was bought and paid for by anti Citizen special interests years ago.

The most scary contributions came in her last run against Skillicorn.

Carolyn is not a neutral common sense leader looking for common political ground to further an independent thoughtful agenda.

Carolyn is a special interest puppet playing a role in a primary to allow those special interests a win win.

Whether it’s Carolyn or a Democrat in that office any special interest with cash will have a bought vote in the Assembly.

    Skillicorn is the only conservative.

Skillicorn is the only candidate who has truly remained on the side of The People.

Anyone on this blog, certainly, not working for Allen’s re-election will be complicit in giving his seat to a very dangerous person to The People’s future in Illinois.

  6. Actually it’s a wise stratagem…… most cat owners are indeed Schofield types.

Every one of these cat ladies or cat wimpy-boys Skilly turns on the Cat Taxer is like a net 2 votes.

I guarantee this mailer gave Schofield Cat Tax Fever.

  7. Keep in mind the CAT TAX was and may be still on the table as long as this was even brought up and she voted for it is shameful and disgusting…

just something they do not think about dinging the tax payer for …!

    strike against her.

  8. Looks like the cat issue is on the County Board Agenda packet for the meeting on Mar 16.

  9. Will she tax aquarium fish too?

I just lost 2 neon tetras.

Can I be taxed ex post facto on dead fish?

  10. The Animal Control Ordinance is proposed to be changed. Regarding “cats”, pages 426, 427, 435, 436 and 439 of the McHenry County Board Meeting Packet for March 16, 2020 indicates changes and shows the word “cat” in red.
