From Jerry Evans for Congress Press Release:

Illinoisans Deserve Better

WARRENVILLE, Il. — With only a few days until the primary election, Jerry Evans, candidate for the 14th Congressional District, wants to earn your vote by continuing his campaign of honesty and integrity.

Evans is releasing the following statement addressing the state of the race:

“Unfortunately lies, vitriol, and inexperience are fueling our race for the 14th District nomination. Over the years, I’ve seen how the lack of positive leadership and transparent campaigns have plagued our state. We need honest and transparent leadership so voters know exactly what they are getting when they go to the polls.

“With respect to my opponents, they have been stretching the truth, spreading lies, or carrying baggage that disqualifies them from a general election victory. I believe if you have baggage that would disqualify you from a general election win then you are certainly disqualified right now.

“We all know it. We cannot afford to put up an old,
out-of-touch candidate against Rep. Underwood who happens to be the youngest black female ever elected to Congress. We all know this is not a winning solution for our Republican party—this issue goes beyond Jim Oberweis.

“Over the last few months the 14th District voters have taught me one thing: They value strong life experience as a principle for good leadership. In contrast to the other millennial in the race, I’ve built a business in our community and I’ve been honest and transparent on the issues since day one of my campaign. I will stand up to the swamp, support President Trump, and take back the District.

“Let me make my case one more time. We have a responsibility to flip the 14th District and I strongly believe voters prefer to elect a candidate who hasn’t lied to or misled them. I’m a young millennial and I’m the candidate who’s closest in age to Lauren Underwood. I’m a strong pro-Trump conservative. And I’m a true outsider who’s worked hard to build a business in our community. The people in this district are amazing and they absolutely deserve better. It would be an honor to have their support on Tuesday.”

Jerry Evans’ campaign spokesperson added the following:

“Voters want to go to the polls feeling good about their vote. Right now we have four candidates who are lying about their records, lying about their opponents, or flat out misleading voters. Illinoisans deserve better and Jerry Evans message of honesty and transparency is a much needed fresh voice for the District.”

  1. Jerry, you unfortunately are not competitive.

You are a nice guy, but not competitive and that is OK, move on.

You were never attacked directly, why?

Because you are not a threat.

Your signs are nice, good effort, but you don’t bring the FIRE that is needed to take on Congresswoman Underwood.

We understand you are trying to get on the map with this effort, but there is a reason why Sue Rezin and Ted Gradel’s campaigns both unleashed massive attack efforts on Catalina Lauf today. S

he is leading the polls, they just found out, and it was too late, Opps!

  2. Jerry Evans has properly characterized Catalina Lauf.

She is inexperienced, unfit, and allergic to integrity.

  3. Distrusting, what attacks are you referring to did Sue Rezin and Ted Gradel do on Catalina Lauf?

    Mailer?

    TV commercial?

    Robocall?

Please let us know, and better yet, if mailer, please scan all pages & email them to Cal and/or me.

    Thank you.

  4. John,

In the last 24 hours, the attack robocalls have increased significantly.

I’ve personally picked up 4 robocalls 2 from Ted and 2 from Sue.

I highly suggest you look into them.

It is dirty campaign tactics at its finest.

The opponent are running scared but they found out too late, Catalina was their biggest threat all along.

  5. Distrusting,

Will do. Given what Gradel’s campaign people have put out, I would not be surprised of anything a robocall from his campaign would say.

The one that puzzles me is Rezin.

If Lauf was beginning to be seen as a threat to win the nomination through the lens of internal tracking polls, Lauf would have an article or two on Rezin’s campaign website under the Opponents page.

We all can think of three things to post about Lauf to “make a case against Lauf”, starting with the ERA question at the Batavia debate and the video clip when she was asked that question.

Lately, the candidate who is really honked off at Lauf is James Marter.

Came to a head this week when Dan Proft invited Jim Oberweis, Ted Gradel, Rezin and Lauf for separate one-on-one phone-in radio interviews, but not Marter.

And Proft had an “emperor wears no clothes” revelation to Marter that the threshold to be considered viable to be on show was a $250K minimum receipts for the campaign & Proft said it is Marter’s fault for failing to provision his campaign with resources to be viable.

Marter went nuts, and stepped up his anti-Lauf campaign of her being a sellout and working for one of the worst swamp people in business.

I think he was alluding to Jeff Roe, the founder of Axiom Strategies, which is the consulting firm helping Lauf’s campaign.

Marter groups Lauf with Rezin, as the only two Republican primary candidates who’ve never cast a vote in the 14th district and other nonsense.

Now, I wouldn’t put it past an overzealous supporter of Marter to spread a robocall & claim it came from Rezin when it did not.

Especially when Rezin’s campaign already has effective ways to deal with opponents who are a threat to win, or attack her too often.

If you want some comic relief, please go to Marter’s campaign Facebook page and read his latest posts since Proft snubbed Marter earlier in the week.

I am going to follow-up and get to the truth of these robocalls.

  6. ^That story about Proft not having Marter on his show because Marter doesn’t have enough money amused me.

  7. It’s weird how conservative radio man and faux intellectual Dan Proft won’t have James Marter on his program, but airs Willie Wilson commercials asking voters to support reparations.

  8. Does Proft have a different standard for Democrats?

He has Sarah Gad on his program right now who is running against Bobby Rush (D) in the primary.

    I don’t see her having 250 k according the FEC’s website.
