Will McHenry County’s Hospitals Have a “Do-Not-Resuscitate” Policy Imposed Upon Them By Northwestern Medicine?

The Washington Post is reporting,

Northwestern Medical put up banners around its McHenry Hospital.

“Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago has been discussing a do-not-resuscitate policy for infected patients, regardless of the wishes of the patient or their family members — a wrenching decision to prioritize the lives of the many over the one.”

Isn’t Northwestern the system which took control of Centegra?

The old Woodstock Hospital became Centegra, then turned into Northwestern.

Since hospital systems generally have the same rules throughout, would its Huntley, McHenry and Woodstock hospitals also operate under the same “do-not-resuscitate” policy?

And, what about the retired health care workers who are being recruited?

If they became infected with coronavirus would their co-workers let them die?

If so, it would seem there might be recruiting problems.

  1. Let’s wait and see the impact on the hospitals first before rash decisions are made.

  2. Yes, Illinois will have a DNR policy – strictly for the use of DEMOCRATS only.

Who says rank doesn’t have it’s privileges ?

  3. I would like to thank the Earth and this Blog for the opportunity.

I will always remember my time here no matter what hospital I end up in.

  4. We need to stop this “Do-not-resuscitate” policy nonsense. We do not have the luxury of losing our glorious sunshine blogger. Compassionate conservative republikkklans walked away this week from its “every-life-is-sacred” philosophy; but it is a different story with regards to my sunshine blogger. Stay tuned…tic, tock, tic, tock, tic, tock, hug your neighbor, tic, tock, tic, tock, tic, tock, meeeeeeoooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwww…

  5. People need to start calling the hospital and inquire about this.

Let them know there’s no public support for this draconian measure.

  6. Universal DNRs for patients with COVID-19 are not draconian.

It is not merciful to revive patients who cannot recover after resuscitation, quite the contrary.

The universal DNR is not as scary as non- standard protocols for testing and treatment within the Northwestern Medical empire.

I am given to understand that different NW hospitals are allocated differently in terms of standard testing and treatment protocols.

It would be beneficial if NW Medical made a public statement assuring patients in the hinterlands (DeKalb, McHenry) that there are no preferential hierarchies in distribution of supplies or testing/treatment triage.

  7. Democrats should have no problems with this. They support abortions on demand for women for convenience sake.
Democrats such as Casten say that an abortion, taking of a life, is similar to removing a diseased gall bladder.

  8. More sewer septic tank download from my Political Science and Sociology professor, thinking he is cleverly turning this issue into a cheap attack against Democrats. Professor, now that we delve into the “saving lives” subject, please explain to the masses how pro-life republikkklans evolved from a nonstop crocodile-tears factory in 2009 to prevent the social cleansing of grandparents by the Affordable Care Act into a fascist cult asking for the patriotic sacrifice of the elderly in the altar of the Dow Jones industrial index. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the private sector apologist making a complete fool of what is left of himself. Stay tuned…tic, tock, tic, tock, tic, tock, hug your neighbor, tic, tock, tic, tock, tic, tock, meeeeeeoooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwww…

  9. Franks will decide if you live or die!

Soon, he’ll decide if you eat.

Let’s see your skin color and voting record, he’ll say.
