After four hours of debate, House passes on voice vote $2.2 Trillion H.R. 748

At 12:26PM CDT, the House, on a voice vote, passed the CARES Act.

It was passed on a voice vote in spite of objection by Congressman Thomas Massie (R, KY-04) who wanted a recorded vote:

President Trump weighed in on Massie’s objection which became public this morning and left no doubt how he felt about grandstanding, which included a swift kick out of the Republican Party for Massie:

So Congressman Massie has been told by the President to be thrown out of the Republican Party.

Drama was not confined to a Republican, as this video of Congresswoman Haley Stevens (D, MI-11) displays, which included House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer coming to support the need for more time to speak, yet it was not enough:

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy held a joint news conference after the voice vote which ended with Speaker Pelosi publicly signing the enrollment of H.R. 748 as approved by the House as amended at 12:55PM CDT.

  1. It’s like Oprah and her car giveaway, ‘cept this time it’s you get a billion, you get a billion and on and on

  2. Paul Revere, it’s hundreds of billions for our Franks types to be bailed out.

  3. Will Oprah be the new Demo Presidential candidate when Biden the Senile is yanked from the ticket in August?
