Ness Pulls in BIG Bucks for Challenge to Skillicorn, Mainly from Mike Madigan and His Allies

The Democratic primary contest with Carpentersville Village Trustee was a walk in the park for McHenry County Board member Suzanne Ness.

Suzanne Ness

Now comes her campaign disclosure for the first three months of 2020.

Donations totaled $109,474.67.

Not reported in that total were in-kind contributions, which amounted to another $103,108.29.

Ness raised $11,474.67 from individuals and businesses.

That was dwarfed by $98,000 from Political Action Committees.

Here are the contributions from the PACS:

  • $1,000 – AFSCME Illinois Council No. 31 Political Action Committee
  • $15,000 – Friends of Michelle Mussman 09-09, Schaumburg
  • $50,000 – Friends of Natalie Manley, Joliet
  • $20,000 – Friends to Elect Kathleen Willis, Addison
  • $1,000 – Gun Violence Prevention Pac, Arlington Heights
  • $1,500 – Illinois Trial Lawyers Association Political Action Committee, Springfield
  • $5,000 – Liuna Chicago Laborers’ District Council Political Action Committee, Burr Ridge
  • $2,500 – SEIU Healthcare IL IN PAC, Chicago
  • $2,000 – UFCW Local 881 Political Action Committee, Des Plaines

Individuals and business gave $3,954.67 in amounts under $150.01, the identity of which do not have to be revealed.

Contributions of over $150 totaling $7,520 follow:

  • $1,250 – Janice Bosman, Woodstock
  • $250 – Scott Brix, Marengo
  • $250 – Michael Cassidy, Chicago
  • $250 – Andrew Glassford, St. Charles
  • $200 – Kenneth Johnson, Woodstock
  • $200 – Richard Kraft, Crystal Lake
  • $170 – John Labaj, Crystal Lake
  • $200 – Maridel Markinson, Lakewood
  • $200 – Kathleen Matesic, Jappa, MD
  • $500 – Sabina Poore, Schereville, IN
  • $500 – Thomson Weir LLC, Springfield
  • $750 – Marybeth Urbin, Woodstock

But, that’s not all.

There were $103,108.29 given in what are called “in-kind contributions.”

The pro-abortion Personal PAC paid $2,363.53 for a mailing on behalf of Ness on 2/26.

Labeled as “polling” by Tulchin Research came the following from Mike Madigan’s Floor Leader Gregory Harris:

  • 1-10-20 – $25,000
  • 2-28-20 – $13,500
  • 3-10-20 – $13,500

That has to be more than “polling.”

Madigan’s Democratic Majority poured in $35,000 money for mailiings:

  • 1/21/2020 – $21,987.39
  • 1/30/202 – $13,416.18

Two of Madigan’s PACs and the Operating Engineers Local 150 paid for more than sixteen campaign workers, a heavy concentration of which was in the last week of the election and, it seems, on election day.

Operating Engineers:

  • 2/27/2020 – $570
  • 2/13/20 – $315
  • 3/20/2020 – $255

Democratic Majority:

  • Kathleen Stanczykiewicz, Mundelein – $45,729.38, paid on 1/20, 1/31, 2/4, 3/6 & 3/17
  • Ryan Aderman, Chicago – $344.5, paid on 3/17
  • Ryan Vischoff, Chicago – $347.25, paid on 3/17
  • Craig Casey, Oak Lawn – $174.80, paid on 3/17
  • Karen Casey, Oak Lawn – $487.53, paid on 3/17
  • Ron Crane, Oak Lawn – $174.80, paid on 3/17
  • Dave Foleyu, Chicago – $172.02, paid on 3/17
  • Collin Gruca, Burbank – $174.80, paid on 3/17
  • Kyle Gruca, Burbank – $174.80, paid on 3/17
  • Steven Hensley, Orland Park – $167.20, paid on 3/17
  • Sue Morgan, Lockport – $179.60, paid on 3/17
  • Dave OFarrell, Chicago – $512.09, paid on 3/17
  • Gene Pagois, Chicago – $359.19, paid on 3/17
  • Ziyadah Zahdan, Chicago – $349.60, paid on 3/17

Friends of Michael J Madigan:

  • John Maxson, Springfield – $576.10, paid on 1/22. 2/5, 2/21, 3/6 & 3/20
  • Chrisopher Kessler, Chicago -$364.16, paid on 2/5, 2/21. 3/6 & 3/20

These two also had insurance paid for them.

Ness herself also paid $1,350 for signed printed in Bridgview on 1/17 and $16.96 for office supplies purchased in Boca Raton, Florida, on 2/22.

She had $17,586.67 in her campaign fund at the end of March.

Ness Democratic Party opponent Jim Malone did not raise or spend $5,000, so was not required to file a campaign disclosure report with the Illinois State Board of Elections.

The election was not close:

McHenry County results for Ness v. Malone race.
Kane County results for Ness v. Malone race.

Ness beat Jim Malone 7,606 to 2,192 for a 77.6% win.

Ness Pulls in BIG Bucks for Challenge to Skillicorn, Mainly from Mike Madigan and His Allies — 18 Comments

  1. Even more dangerous based on past performance is why is no one running against Patrick D. Kenneally for State Attorney in my opinion?

No Republican opposition in the Primary and no Democrats in the November General Election for this key office yet Patty has many throughout the County who feel he’s incompetent and or corrupted doesn’t make sense.

Who benefits from this idiot holding this key office?

  2. He’s not corrupt.

You may not like him for personal or policy reasons, but corruption in public office is a crime.

What’s your theory and what’s your evidence?

That aside, who would you like to run against him, and who is going to pay for the campaign?

  3. Martin, please provide citations that he isn’t.

Off of what proof do you make that supports your claim?

    See Algonquin Township for theory.

  4. **Martin, please provide citations that he isn’t. Off of what proof do you make that supports your claim?**

LOL – I don’t think this works like you think it works.

You are asking Martin to prove the absence of something.

The burden of proof is on you, Mike.

  5. **That has to be more than “polling.”**

Nah… it was likely just three separate polls.

  6. Mike Hunt asks an interesting question as why does every other office up for election at the County government level have opposition while the McHenry County States Attorney’s Office has no challenger from either political party. The office for Coroner had multiple individuals running for example but no one to challenge Kenneally?

Who supports Kenneally is a interesting question. Does the McHenry County Sheriff’s Department employees union now endorse him after recent events regarding the Health Department and releasing the names of those infected Coronavirus? Does Kenneally feel the same obligation to the community regarding the Illegal Mexican? Why shouldn’t McHenry County residents be informed and aware of illegals in their communities for example?

Kenneally seems to be nothing but a political hack and hand puppet in my assessment so who benefits from his re-election besides himself?

  7. Getting this conversation back to Suzanne Ness vs. Allen Skillicorn, if I were Skillicorn, I’d start mending fences, at least virtually, quickly.

That begins with Senator Don DeWitte, and Carolyn Schofield and her backers.

Skillicorn can’t let the primary’s margin of victory lull him into complacency or haughtiness.

Skillicorn needs both DeWitte and Schofield and her backers to win this race.

As I posted in another article, the Democrats are smelling blood in the 66th district (as well as the 63rd), and the numbers on Ness’ latest D-2s are proof.

As stated previously, when appointed incumbent/nominee Don DeWitte won his state senate race in 2018 over the 2016 nominee for the 66th, the Democrat won the Skillicorn half of the 33rd legislative district in 2018.

Skillicorn needs to apply the level of contriteness and humility he showed when the Legislative Inspector General (LIG) published their findings for what happened on June 1st of last year.

While in my opinion, he should have been more contrite and accepted full responsibility for what he did last year, I remember commenting after the LIG findings and Skillicorn’s reaction were published, that was the most humble and contrite I’ve ever seen Skillicorn.

But something is also clear. Suzanne Ness is not Carolyn Schofield, and neither are her financial backers.

Skillicorn is going to have to run his race and remember Ness is his opponent, not Mike Madigan.

It would be interesting to hear what newly minted McHenry County Republican Chairman Tyler Wilke has to say about the 66th district race.

Since 2/3 of the vote in this district is on the McHenry County side of the county line, what McHenry County Republicans do to protect this seat, given Skillicorn and his record over two terms.

Skillicorn’s former radio show co-host, blogger/campaign consultant/author Jeff Ward of Geneva, did preview this race right after the primary.

Ward knows Skillicorn better than anyone, outside of Skillicorn’s wife.

Ward predicted Skillicorn would prevail in the fall, provided Skillicorn followed his hard-work campaign work ethic to the fullest.

Adding my two cents to Ward’s prediction, I would predict it is winnable for Skillicorn, but he needs to adapt to this Ness challenge.

And Skillicorn’s reelection MUST be the one and only race Skillicorn should be involved with, not Jeanne Ives or Jim Oberweis for Congress, or President Trump in spite being elected an alternate delegate for the President last month from the 8th congressional district.

Skillicorn and his strongest supporters, and that includes newly minted Grafton Township Republican Chairman Orville Brettman, need to acknowledge Skillicorn has a real fight on his hands, but know they can prevail but it will be tough.

  8. ** Decent polling isn’t cheap

Define Decent and how do you know what the cost of polling is?

What is your direct experience of using and pricing polling services?

    Citations!

  9. I have no idea how many questions or what the sample was.

    I haven’t seen the polls.

    But yes, I’ve hired pollsters.

And yes, good pollsters are expensive.

  10. Lopez, nice try, but how do you mend fences with a dirty lying RINO like DeWitte?

    Ans: You can’t!

How can Skilli ever trust that bastard again.

It’s like surviving a stab in the back … a very deep one, recovering, and meeting the cowardly rat in church a little later when he comes to shake your hand?

  11. Watch out for Loch Ness Monster’s absentee vote harvesting scams!

  12. **What is the most you have ever paid one?**

I’ve seen polls range from 3,000 to $40,000 or more. It totally depends on sample size, length, type (i.e. robopoll vs live callers), quality, etc.

  13. Kalki, to answer your question it’s going to take an article. Will get one up over the weekend.

  14. Ness is a real mess.

And she’s a Madigan zombie who’s proven herself to be a Franks harem-scare ’em girl.

PS she goes ‘commando’ a lot.
