At least a week ago, reports told of 200 Mayors and Village Presidents writing Attorney General Kwame Raoul to ask for an Advisory opinion saying they could ignore the requirement in state law that Freedom of Information request replies be made in five business days or, if found necessary, in an addition five days.
I requested a copy of the letter so I could see if any McHenry County municipal heads’ names were on it.
The Public Access Bureau wrote yesterday saying it needed an addition five days to reply.
Seemed like a simple request to me.
All that had to be done was to scan the letter or memo and forward it.
Use of this delaying tactic means to me that politics are in play.
Here’s my request:
Here is the Attorney General’s reply:
Does the communication contain just signatures and not the names of the towns involved?
Will the signatures be blacked out and the names of the municipalities revealed?
Or is something else in play?
Tune in a week from now.
Lest anyone accuse the Public Sector of unfamiliarity with hard work.
It can be quite taxing collecting full pay, while telling lumpenproles “we’re all in this together”, simultaneously dodging Cal’s FOI requests.
“Or is something else in play? Tune in a week from now”. My sunshine blogger championing again the noble cause of brave journalism. A week from now? I say stay tuned…tic, tock, tic, tock, tic, tock, hug a blogger, tic, tock, tic, tock, meeeeeeoooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwww…
lol why should you get immunity/privacy protection if you’re a public official writing to a public official on a question of public policy?
Wait til FOIA is repealed!
That’s what tyrannies do!
Those mayors should eliminated from their offices (next election) I have to put the parenthetical in to avoid having my first amendment rights taken prematurely.
Eliminated and jailed on Baffin Island for life.
Baffin is too close.
How about Voronina Island?
