McCarthy Adds Candidates to 2020 Young Guns Program
WASHINGTON – House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy today announced the promotion of 14 to the Contender level. The [Young Guns] program mentors and supports candidates in races across the country and works to provide them with the necessary tools to run successful, winning campaigns against their Democratic opponents.
“These candidates are instrumental in helping Republicans reclaim the House majority,” said House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy. “With their continued hard work and dedication Republicans will be one step closer to sending the socialist Democrats packing in November.”
The NRCC’s Young Guns program requires candidates to work towards specific goals and meet benchmarks throughout the election cycle to ensure their campaigns remain competitive, well-funded and communicative within their districts. Candidates progress through three levels of the program: On the Radar, Contender and Young Gun
Jeanne Ives of IL-06 is listed at the new level of “Contender”.
Ives’ issued a statement Monday afternoon:
“I am grateful that the NRCC has recognized my team’s hard work to build out a strong infrastructure that has been able to remain engaged and responsive, even as we navigate one of the most unprecedented moments in history.
“Reaching this level is only possible with a broad range of support and interest from voters looking for common-sense representation. We know there is a great deal of work ahead of us – both in the campaign and as the nation moves into a post-COVID era in the coming months.

The Illinois 6th needs an intelligent and rational person like Jeanne in the U.S. House. The current guy has made some outrageous statements such as comparing a woman’s abortion to merely a gall bladder operation. This current guy is from the ilk of the Green New Deal nonsense and talks climate change like chicken little and the sky is falling.
