Pritzker’s One-Man Rule Suffers Setback

George Bailey saved Bedford Falls from becoming Pottersville.

Now comes State Rep. Darren Bailey trying to save Illinois from Governor JB Pritzker’s unilateral, Chicago-centric dictates he says are needed to protect his subjects from Coronavirus.

Here is the Clay County Court order from Judge Michael McHaney:

The Governor, of course, is aghast that a lowly Republican State Representative would dare question his judgment.

The Governor apparently is not educated on the concept of “Separation of Powers.”

He also does not seem to understand that some parts of Illinois like Clay County do not have a Coronavirus problem:

Clay County’s infection rate is 0.02%.

  1. Curious JB was insulted first and foremost.

I guess when you are a billionaire governor of a one party state, when the little people exercise their constitutional rights, via the legal system, and win, your nose gets out of joint.

I watched him make that comment.

    He was seething.

  2. Wow. During his daily press briefing, about 45 minutes in, the ruling from Clay County comes down, and reporters immediately ask for his reaction.

    The governor didn’t disappoint.

I’ve cued this video link to the best part, when he tries to condemn Darren Bailey and that history will judge him as an “ideologue”. Check it out. The quotes in the video are better then the BlueRoomStream in the tweet above.

  3. He reacted in such a resentful way, I thought he’d order his goon state troopers out to arrest the Bailey and the judge.

Don’t worry though, a higher court will overrule this ruling pronto.

    You can bet on it!

  4. He reacted in such a resentful way, I thought he’d order his goon state troopers out to arrest the Bailey and the judge.

  5. He sort of acted the angry way the bugeyed lesbian mayor did when the Mexican alderman put salt on tail over her power grab!

Lighthead said the alderman were endangering everybody and gunna kill people.

  6. He does seem to be positively infuriated by what Darren has done.

No mention in Pritzker’s pre-written speech of the actual law or constitution, which he may in fact be violating.

You could see him practicing it earlier.

The timing of the question also appears to have been planned.

He can “strongly encourage” everyone to do what he asks, but it doesn’t mean that they have to.

Even his own words allude to this.

It’s been noted in the court documents that he may have in fact already exceeded 30 days as of April 8th or so.

It’s reasonable to question the man’s motives, especially considering his request for over $41 billion bailout.

This isn’t a “partisan issue”, as he states, but one of whether or not the constitution will be upheld for the people.

And it’s perfectly legit that he should be challenged on it.

I’m hoping that we see more cases where he’s challenged.

As of right now, I’m not sure that his threats of involving law enforcement for non-compliance will hold much merit.

But it seems that he’s like many politicians who are only obsessed with wealth and power.

So sick of this authoritarian state and its corruption, high taxes, and little to show for it.

  7. Are the governor’s orders reasonable given the circumstances?

    Maybe, maybe not.

    Only time will tell.

Is the judge correct in his ruling?

    Perhaps, perhaps not.

    Only time will tell.

The statute seems clear on the limitations, but is mute on the point of may he repeated reissue these rulings. i.e. serial executive orders as an end run around what the law says.

It is proper for him to ignore the law/constitution? i.e. the end justifies the means?

    Hell no!

I am so ashamed of our politicians – of both ilk – with their demands for pork barrel projects, bailouts for their crimes (pending funding) of years and years.

This “we’re the government and we will do whatever we please” has to stop.

Look around people these a**holes don’t care a whit.

They are collecting their paychecks, does anyone know of government workers being laid off?

The court house is empty compared to pre-Covid-19 days.

How many employees are on unpaid leave?

    Any?

SOS Driver’s License station in Woodstock is shuttered.

    Are they collecting checks?

These people calling the shots, capitalizing on the situation to right their wrongs, have no skin in the game.

  8. Still on script. This clown needs to be arrested for treason. He’s promoting the lies like nothing has changed and everyone still believes the dumb lies they have been foisting on the public. Bring back public pillories. These people are not just dangerous but also extremely evil.

  9. Thanks for posting this, Cal.

People have been curious about what was said during the hearing.

I wasn’t surprised with the ruling, however, Team Bailey is not out of the woods.

The “liberty interest to be free from Pritzker’s executive order (??) quarantine in his own home” part seems like something a higher Illinois court might find a problem with.

Are you really under quarantine if you can go out for a jog, go buy beer, etc?

Do you know where to find a copy of “Verified complaint, verified motion for temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction, along with his accompanying legal brief as well as its supplement”?

I’m guessing that’s where the real substance of the argument is.

Would it just be the Clay County Circuit Clerk?

  10. This only applies to a single person….,. Not everybody!

“Today, America would be outraged if U.N. troops entered Los Angeles to restore order [referring to the 1991 LA Riot]. Tomorrow they will be grateful! This is especially true if they were told that there were an outside threat from beyond [i.e., an “extraterrestrial” invasion], whether real or promulgated, that threatened our very existence.

“It is then that all peoples of the world will plead to deliver them from this evil. The one thing every man fears is the unknown.

“When presented with this scenario, individual rights will be willingly relinquished for the guarantee of their well-being granted to them by the World Government.”

    – Dr. Henry Kissinger, Bilderberger Conference, Evians, France, 1991

  11. Some say the pen is mightier than the sword, maybe that’s true, maybe it’s not.

But I am tired of being told I have to give up my rights to live free for a false sense of security.

I will no longer be owned or commanded.

This is MY life and I am peacefully choosing to be free.

  12. I notice this morning J.B. has changed the sound bite from the original
“It’s insulting” to the new “all Illinoisans should be insulted” this morning.

This is the work of handlers like Axelrod.

    Shape the narrative

  13. And you expected what from an obese, greedy, tax cheater with a sense
of self-entitlement as big as his waistline ?

  14. I expected nothing less from a guy that has a $800,000 speedboat, which in reality is a drop in the bucket to what he spent getting elected.

I guess us plebs will continue to pay the taxes our rulers have passed unto us common folks, as they waste those funds like there is no tomorrow.

  15. Pritzker did not ask for the $41 billion.

That was newly-elected Senate President Don Harmon.

  16. Someone finally stood up againt the JB machine without worring about what the poll numbers would say and followed what the law dictates in our state constuition.

I am sure democrates know the law but decided to ignore it because of the situation.

Another observation is that we havent heard a peep out of the rest of our illustirous republican party.

Afraid to do the right thing?

    Some party.

  17. Perhaps in my opinion BJ should contact McHenry County States Attorney Kenneally as he’s a lawyer like Jack Franks, making them above the law and better than you and the rest of us.

  18. M – Why do you claim this?

Do you think that the interpretation of “20 ILCS 3305/7” is incorrect?

I don’t know that name calling does much to support your argument.

Technically JB declared the disaster in March 9, so he’s well over a month and a half into a disaster that is supposed to last only 30 days.

  19. Side note.

It’s been stated that you can’t technically legally concealed carry (or even transport weapons in a vehicle) and wear a covid-19 mask (720 ILCS 5/24-1).

  20. JB is on the tube now on his daily presser.

First issue was attacking rep Baily.

He got under Jelly Beans skin,

    Big Time

  21. The press conference today is weird.

So far I’ve learned Pritzker is still mad at Bailey and the Polish military is helping us fight coronavirus.

  22. J.B. quote just now:

“Shameful acts on the part of these partisan actors”

So, J.B. thinks he is now a king?

  23. They spent a lot of time on the Polish military helping out.

    What are there, 3 guys?

  24. Some Guy? Thank you, sir. You are absolutely right! Kind of makes you look at those not “wearing” now in a different light, huh?
