Judge Michael Chmiel’s Coronavirus Identity Decision Reverberates Across the Nation

Michael Chmiel

I thought his decision placing zoning power over school districts, upheld by the Illinois Supreme Court, would be McHenry County Judge Michael Chmiel’s most remembered decision.

Now, I’m not so sure.

Today, an editorial from the Richmond (Virginia) News-Gazette was published citing his decision requiring the McHenry County Health Department to release the names and addresses to the Sheriff’s Department and several local police departments.

Here’s what my search engine produced:

Judge Michael Chmiel’s Coronavirus Identity Decision Reverberates Across the Nation — 12 Comments

  1. What pathetic creature he is.

Anybody that puts ‘amateur herpetologist’ on his linked in page, needs supervision.

  2. The amateur herpetologist refers to his snakiness, not snakes that he keeps.

  3. BLUE LIVES MATTER! !

    Support BLUE LIVES!

    Support Chimel’s decision!

Respect the RULE OF LAW! !

  4. Fifth rater in charge.

What could possibly go wrong with a crook like Chmiel?

Isn’t Chmiel a variant of the Yiddish word “schlemiel?”

Schlemiel (Yiddish: שלומיאל‎; sometimes spelled shlemiel or shlumiel) is a Yiddish term meaning “incompetent person” or “fool”. It is a common archetype in Jewish humor, and so-called “schlemiel jokes” depict the schlemiel falling into unfortunate situations.

  5. Will this ruling work both ways?

I have seen first responders blatantly ignoring social distancing, thus putting the public they are responding to in the same danger.

I’ve heard reports of a local police officer hosting large yard gatherings of friends and neighbors on a regular bases.

I’ve heard reports of a gathering where groups of first responders were showing support for one another with hugs, kisses, and hand holding with absolutely no PPE.

I don’t know that I want these possibly infected first responders entering my home or the homes of my loved ones.

Don’t we all deserve the same protection?

  6. Chmiel is one of Cowlin’s little put up frauds who got in because he was a scurrying mouse who wanted to become a rat. There are many like him in McH Co.

    It’s very sad.

    They think they’re royalty.

But there’s nothing majestic or noble about them.

    Just crud.

Cowlin’s nickname is ‘Lord of the Flies.’

  7. Judge Chmiel ran against Judge Cowlin for Chief Judge. He was also on the bench ahead of Judge Cowlin.

  8. Thank you, Cal.

    You beat me to it.

Judge Cowlin had no role in selecting Judge Chmiel.

That appointment was made at the discretion of Bob Thomas, now retired from the Supreme Court

  9. I’ve had to deal with Chemiel in a private matter in probate court.

    Not easy.

I know his history and would very carefully do more reading before I contemplated getting involved as I have.

Haven’t got many choices but I’ll try not to schedule on those dates if possible.

A new lawyer is being selected also, for what should have an easy fix.

Instead it’s all about greed, money to excess and the school issue, ugh.

No,there’s nothing majestic about any of it

  10. This is interesting.

We have a States Attorney who has said publicly that he will not enforce “Mask” rules and we have Chief Prim who has also stated publicly he will not enforce “Mask” rules on his officers or the public.

It’s curious to me as to why Law Enforcement is now taking this stance.

I want our officers protected too.

Very few are being vaccinated based upon their own choice.

It does not make a lot of sense to me.
