McCarthy Promotes 15 Candidates to Final Phase of Young Guns Program

WASHINGTON – House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy today announced the second round of “Young Guns” candidates who have been elevated to the highest level of the Young Guns program.

The program mentors and supports candidates in races across the country and works to provide them with the necessary tools to run successful, winning campaigns against their Democrat opponents.

“We are proud to promote such a diverse group of candidates to the final phase of the Young Guns program,” said House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy. “As we move closer to Election Day, these candidates have shown they stand in stark contrast to their Democratic opponents and have the structure in place to come out victorious in November.”

The NRCC’s Young Guns program requires candidates to work towards specific goals and meet benchmarks throughout the election cycle to ensure their campaigns remain competitive, well-funded and communicative within their districts. Candidates progress through three levels of the program: On the Radar, Contender and Young Gun.

IL-06/IL-14/IL-17: Jeanne Ives and Jim Oberweis Promoted to Top Tier of NRCC — 12 Comments

  1. I received email from Ives complaining about a coronavirus relief bill for 2 or 3 trillion dollars, saying it was loaded with all sorts of pork.

    I agree with her.

But why did Donald Trump tweet angrily at Congressman Thomas Massie just for trying to get a roll call vote on a giant spending bill a few weeks ago?

Because Donald Trump doesn’t care what’s in a bill or how much it costs.

Jeanne Ives will be mocked by Trump on Twitter if she actually votes according to any kind of principles or values.

Remember when Trump tweeted about the Freedom Caucus: “The Freedom Caucus will hurt the entire Republican agenda if they don’t get on the team, & fast” and “We must fight them, & Dems, in 2018”?

Do Republicans actually believe in anything or do they just dance like a monkey for their insecure cult leader?

  2. In two weeks Jim Oberweis turns 74 years old.

His opponent is 33 years old.

So of course the GOP is trotting him out as a “young gun.”

Where does this rank on dumbest GOP campaigns ever?

Oberweis calling this a “game changer” is all you need to know about this race.

  3. Young Guns has nothing to do with age, Oh.

It’s just a designation that candidates can earn if they raise a lot of money.

John Lopez explained the criteria in a post a while back, but I don’t remember the specifics.

Nobody believes or is claiming that Oberweis is literally young.

  4. Let me know when the coming Reaction and return to sanity sweeps away the sickening likes of Underwood, Casten and Oberweis .

That will probably require a new political party.

The coming Civil War will make the Spanish civil war seem sedate.

  5. Fade to Black,

I would suggest Trump not attack people in his own party so much. It’s counter-productive. You see how the House is now that it’s controlled by Democrats. Whatever issues Trump has with the Tuesday Group or the Freedom Caucus, having those people in congress (Republicans with whom he occasionally disagrees with) is still better for him than if they are replaced by #resistance people from the Democratic Party. Those people obstruct Trump and don’t even know why — they just do it because orange man bad. They don’t disagree with Trump, they hate him. Their opposition to Trump is not based on any principles, it’s just a knee jerk lizard brain reaction.

I would suggest he slow down, calm down, and not blurt out every thought in his mind.

I would suggest that Republican voters and the Republicans in congress grow a spine otherwise never complain about “big government” again. Do some simple math. 300 billion dollars could give 300 million people 1000 dollars. 300 billion dollars is ten percent of three trillion. Where is all this bailout money going? I don’t think one needs to be a Libertarian to be skeptical or critical of what the federal government is doing, and I don’t think it’s a fringe position to want to record a vote like Massie insisted upon (it’s called transparency). I know very few people who voted for Trump because they believed he was a fiscal conservative, but the hope was that the Republican congress would be. Some people knew that Trump was not and voted for him despite that because they had faith that the Republican congress would check him if he did anything stupid. Don’t be a sycophant is all I’m saying. If Trump were to come out and say he’s going to take your guns, and you are for guns, you should push back, not accept it “because Trump said so.”

Trump should also get back to being 2016 campaign Trump instead of being 2005 President George W Bush. Have we heard anything about term limits or lobbying since he got elected? Is he pulling our troops out of the middle east? Cutting the income tax by 3 percent is super popular with Republicans already planning on voting for him, but it’s probably not going to motivate many people to support him. Stop appointing a bunch of people from the Bush 1 and 2 admins, stop appointing lobbyists into your cabinet. Fire Jared Kushner. There’s a lot of things he could be doing better.

  6. Regarding Who has dementia – In recent years, Joe Biden has many times shown signs of dementia. According to health experts, dementia generally can start at age 65 and over. Joe Biden is 77.5 years old and has displayed signs of dementia many times over the last couple of years. Three of those signs that have been very well documented on various national tv coverage of Joe are:

Difficulty in finding the right words

    Confusion

    Being repetitive

All of these were on display at a Democrat presidential candidate debate in August, 2019. This was the time when Joe famously said about an issue on education:

“Make sure you have the record player on at night.”

“My deceased wife IS a teacher.”

Following is a clip of showing Joe being confused and difficulty in finding the right words.

Besides Joe’s apparent dementia and mental problems is his stupidity. Joe did not have good grades in college or law school and he was caught by college officials committing plagiarism and copying words and ideas of a British politician. He received an “F” in the course and had to retake it.

The distinguished former Secretary of Defense for Presidents G.W. Bush and Barak Obama, Robert Gates, said about Biden, in his book, “Duty: Memoirs of a Secretary of War”:

“I think he has been wrong on nearly every major foreign policy and national security issue over the past four decades.

There are many, many reasons besides stupidity, such as racism, plagiarism, anger, dementia, mental issues, violation of women, etc why Biden would be a disaster for this nation if somehow he were elected to president.

  7. Hey, Bred, I wouldn’t be so quick to tout anything the globalist PoS Robert Gates, destroyer of the Boy Scouts of America, closet case and ex CIA director and former chief of the CIA’s Directorate of Operations.

In a normal country people like Gates would be hanged, not give high posts by Bush the Cokehead or Obongo, yet that’s what happened. It’s well known Gates was one of Obongo’s handlers.

Yeah everything you said about Biden is true. But that didn’t stop the Deep State from crashing Comrade’s Bernie’s party.

Why are Comey, Brennan, Mueller, Clapper and all the other pigs not hanged or in jail?

  8. Correcting, Oh, Billy Bob: Young Guns, as I recall reading some time ago on a Republican donations website, refers to the fact that these candidates will be Freshmen in Congress if/when they win.

Hopefully it also means that they will be “gunning” for DimDems and their ill-considered policies (if the DimDems still consider anything such as policies anymore; it seems their ONLY concern of any significance to them is RESISTANCE at any cost), with vigor, when they get there.

Rule by LAW, NOT by MEN.

  9. Correcting, President Trump does care what’s in a bill and how much it costs.

    Don’t be silly.

Suppose you are someone who doesn’t miss the fact that China’s stated goal is [and has been] to become the leading economic and military power of the world, you love America (the real, traditional one), you see and comprehend that The Left is bent upon destroying it, you observe that most Congressional Republicans don’t realize these things or at least aren’t acting like they do, and so you run for president.

You are understandably DRIVEN, and you work harder and take more risks with the Fake News Media than any presidential candidate before you, even the late, great President Reagan (who had a similar insight WRT the USSR), you run a smart campaign (like a veteran businessman, not like a politician, I should add), and you win.

It’s obvious to you that it’s going to take a lot of money to bring the military capability to the necessary level, in the necessary time frame, and that will require a BIG boost to the economy AND a big chunk of money from Congress.

The latter is something that won’t be easy to get from your own team unless you can convince them of the urgent need for it, and is something that you won’t get from the corrupt, opposing team without a bribe … worse yet, the bribe (almost always required to get the votes of Congressional DimDems) will improve their ability to oppose you at the polls (in particular, with voters that can easily be bribed).

But, like many others (none of whom have the courage to act upon it, however), you know how to put the companies of the USA on an even playing field with their competitors in other industrialized nations – drop the corporate tax rate to the AVERAGE of the OTHER industrialized nations.

And you know there have been some trade deals with other nations (especially China) that were unfair to the USA, and improving those would also help to supercharge the economy and further finance the debt needed to meet [and exceed] the challenge posed by the Communist regime in China.

If YOU were aware of all those things, wouldn’t YOU be willing to bribe the corrupt DimDems with a bunch of pork to ensure that the USA doesn’t become a Chinese province several decades down the road?

I love the Freedom Caucus, they’re the best group in Congress.

    But I love freedom better.

I’m a strong Jeanne Ives supporter, and I think she and President Trump will work together well.

    They both love America.

I wish now that I had worked a lot harder to get her elected as our Governor.

Perhaps she’ll return from the House to become our governor at the end of Pritzker’s term … which hopefully will be sooner, rather than later (through recall or impeachment).
