Chicago Man Arrested on Federal Arson Charge for Allegedly Setting Fire to Chicago Police Vehicle

CHICAGO — A Chicago man was arrested today on a federal arson charge for allegedly setting fire to a Chicago Police Department vehicle this past weekend.

Timothy O’Donnell

TIMOTHY O’DONNELL placed a lit object into the gas tank of the marked police vehicle while it was parked in the 200 block of North State Street in downtown Chicago on Saturday, according to a criminal complaint and affidavit filed in U.S. District Court in Chicago.

The vehicle ignited in flames.

At the time, Chicago Police officers were in the area investigating reports of various malfeasances and unrest.

O’Donnell set the fire while wearing a “joker” mask that partially covered his face, the complaint states.

The complaint charges O’Donnell, 31, with one count of arson.

Federal authorities arrested O’Donnell this afternoon and carried out a court-authorized search of his residence.  An initial appearance in federal court in Chicago has not yet been scheduled.

The complaint and arrest were announced by John R. Lausch, Jr., United States Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois; David Brown, Superintendent of the Chicago Police Department; and Emmerson Buie, Jr., Special Agent-in-Charge of the Chicago office of the FBI.  The government is represented by Assistant U.S. Attorneys James P. Durkin and Rajnath Laud.

“Anyone involved in destructive behavior – such as setting fire to a police car – should know that federal law enforcement will use all tools available to us to hold them accountable,” said U.S. Attorney Lausch.

“We will continue to work with the Chicago Police Department and our federal and state partners to apprehend and charge arsonists and others engaging in violent crime.”

The public is reminded that a complaint is not evidence of guilt.  The defendant is presumed innocent and entitled to a fair trial at which the government has the burden of proving guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.  The charge in the complaint is punishable by a minimum sentence of five years in federal prison and a maximum of 20 years.  If convicted, the Court must impose a reasonable sentence under federal statutes and the advisory U.S. Sentencing Guidelines.

  1. Looks like a real winner.

Rumor mill claims that he is Antifa but lamestream media of course is trying not to use that term anymore since it’s a bad word that incriminates leftist media and politicians who have supported them in the past.

  2. When you have tattoos on your neck, a mask on your face alone isn’t enough.

Wish his mugshot wasn’t blurry, kinda curious about his lip/chin tattoo.

I’ve been hearing the police scanners though.

They’re definitely acknowledging antifa as “terrorists”.

  3. Little Timmy is the envy of DEMOCRATS everywhere – yes indeed !

Now who wants to do the heroic thing and start a “go fund me” account for the poor lad’s defense ?

Calling all Hollywood virtue signaling Leftists.

  4. oh not to worry fred flintstone will let him go… i’m sure G. S. got his $$ worth hiring this one… to do his dirty work…

  5. This is more than likely a crime of opportunity, not an installed provocateur.

Why pay when the rest want to play for free?

  6. Nelson: “Why pay when the rest want to play for free?”

    Possibly.

They’re the “useful idiots” that are always used for radical political gain.

But it didn’t seem to take much to get some of these people out there to cause death and destruction

Make no mistakes though, there is money flowing from this.

Some of it is even public; GoFundme donated $500k to bailing domestic terrorists out of jail.

A lot of this was clearly organized, probably even planned for some time.

Makes you wonder if the mask requirements were not deliberate.

Funny that they only started requiring masks in these blue states in the month leading up to this event.

  7. I have my own quarrels about the masks.

I remember seeing articles about beards being breeding grounds for bacteria because of hair & moisture.

I can think of one thing on a woman that this applies to as well.

But moving from that article from last year in Autumn, there was another one on beard hair styles to comfortably wear masks.

Then Corona happened, WHO said people don’t need to wear masks, I was immediately conflicted.

I’ve had to use 3M filters to stop mold, asbestos, and any dust in general.

They were lax on encouraging people to wear them, saying that there is no threat of transmission.

    Then 180’d weeks later.

What I really don’t get is why the nurse who was shot in that raid on her house at night (wrong address) resulted in her being shot.

Not detained or whatever, but shot while asleep.

Why isn’t that the death BLM is utilizing for their own gain?

  8. Nelson: I posted a link in another thread (which was deleted, because it apparently wasn’t on-topic enough) about a 12 year old boy who was recently murdered in Gary.

The community is barely able to put together a $4k bounty on the murderer, but nobody cares.

As a father of a young boy, it disturbs me that people simply do not care at all about this child’s family and how he was robbed of his life.

Yet GoFundme can dump $500k into bailing out arsonists and looters.

On the subject of masks, I have n95s for doing work with insulation and drywall, etc.

But I’ve not once worn one for covid.

I assure you that the moment you start breathing in an n95, it starts becoming a breeding ground for bacteria and really cannot safely be reused for an extended time.

They are designed to be thrown away, even though they will stop dangerous particulates as long as they are structurally intact.

The other masks that people were supposed to fashion from whatever they can find; All show to manipulate and scare.

And, of course, masks are very convenient to have when you’ve got riots where you’re forcing police to stand down and let criminals burn down the blue cities.

  9. That’s the sad truth, nobody cares.

Everybody cares about George, but they’re not caring for him but rather what happened to him.

It’s the catalyst I was expecting to happen.

Right as elections are going to become super relevant.

Even with a mask on, I’m pretty identifiable.

I don’t wear the P100s I usually used, I just got some neck gaiters so I can walk into the stores.

Right now I’m in Waukegan and so many places are preemptively boarded up and a lot of “no mask no service.”

Being someone who relies on gas stations and restaurants for bathrooms while at work.

I have had someone comment to me, that with the masks it’d be easier to rob some places.

My response is that we have ccw in this state.

  10. CCW is fine but I’d much prefer open carry as well.

The mere sight of legal gun owners protecting their businesses is going to send the rioters running.

Bear in mind that many of them are not even legal age to own a gun, let alone could legally buy guns as a result of criminal or psychological history.

I don’t want to necessarily judge Mr. Clown Mask, but my bets are that he’s not exactly the lawful type.

    Felons cannot legally own guns.

  11. It goes without saying that the lawless types that support past anti-gun legislation are of course in favor of increased gun control, simply because they cannot legally buy the guns and risk prison time if they have them.

The gun control issues were killed with covid because law abiding Democrats were buying more guns than ever.

I actually encourage law abiding Democrats to support legal and safe gun ownership.

I don’t agree with them on all of their political views but I see it as their right just as much as anyone else’s.

  12. 80% receivers are a thing.

I don’t like open carry, imho.

A gun in sight is a gun being thought about.

I’m very aware of the differences for carry laws across the nation.

I’d rather assume everyone has something concealed than have concerns about concealed weapons and have them exposed.

It’d be a lot easier to assess the firepower with open carry.

Albeit, I’d like to not have a sweaty waist line where my ccw sits.

I’m not exactly the lawful type.

I’ve had to encroach a lot for 7 years with repossession of properties.

Even marijuana, it was unlawful when I started, then became decriminalized and now it’s recreational.

To me, he seems more like someone who might’ve had identity problems and had to adopt another’s visage to enable their deep rooted behavior.

Which was probably the culmination of everything from 9/11 to now based on the age.

  13. There is a time and a place for everything, for sure.

The lamestream media was beating the Michigan armed protest thing to death.

“Scary people” out there with their guns, legally.

Not one fire or theft or murder in the process.

Trying to protect the rights of all of the citizens, regardless of who they are.

    The marijuana thing is weird.

Still a lot of restriction around it.

It’s a bit of an annoyance when you have your neighbor’s smoke traveling into your house or garage (I don’t personally smoke but don’t have a problem with people smoking it).

More than half of people polled have at least tried pot though.

It’s one thing to decriminalize marijuana but I oppose some of the things that the state has done to profit off of it.

  14. Patty O’Kenneally is already writing a hundred page paper on why this dirt ball shouldn’t be charged.

I can see the family resemblance!

  15. Dude soon going to get a taste of Black Lives, up close and personal like–from extortion to beatings to being a bride, sorry thats the reality of Prison, County Jail and Federal Lockups–Whites are the minority and for protection will need to find an Aryan offshoot to join.

Just what this “clown” says he’s against and burns po-po cars for.

Sorry arse type that looks like he works in a Vape shop, Starbucks or the Pot Shop in Mundelein.

Sorry, but I’ve seen that look in those places more than I’ve seen it at the Public Library or Home Depot.

Not all are like him, just saying many look like him.

    You do the math.

  17. A diseased specimen.

Maybe he’ll get woke after his 28th congoid rape.

Yet, he is the logical output of our cultural marxist ‘publik skools “
