County Board Acts Like a Legislative Body, Fails to Roll Over and Play Dead for Jack Franks – Part 5

McHenry County Board member Chuck Wheeler entered the debate on compensation at this point.

He observed that Franks had two assistants in his office.

Of course your salary is lower than any other.

You have two assistants who are doing your job.

Franks and Wheeler have not gotten along since the beginning of Franks’ term when Wheeler convinced enough Republican colleagues to make him Chairman of the Public Health Committee, even though Franks had nominated fellow Democrat Paula Yensen.

Franks interrupted Wheeler, but the McHenry member plowed ahead.

We’re going to have less Board members doing more work for less money.

By lowering the compensation, [it will be harder to find people willing to run].

We don’t want a House of Lords running our county.

You are going to lower the number of people who are willing to run for office.

Franks then launched into a speech that would have been appropriate at a candidates’ night (but he skipped the one sponsored by the League of Woman Voters in 2016).

It concluded,

We’ve made it so much more transparent.

[At this point, I was thinking of the suit filed by Kelly Liebmann for the records showing when Franks’ two assistants enter and leave the Administrative Building. Franks himself wrote the denial of the Freedom of Information request. See “McHenry County Hit with Freedom of Information Violation Suit for Denial of Information about Electronic Building Entrance and Exit Data for Jack Franks’ Patronage Employees.” the Northwest Herald still has not written a story, which was filed in late April.]

  1. Wheeler likes to feed at the trough.

He gets tough against Franks when his own food line is threatened.

Why was Franks’ staff even allowed in the first place?

    Look where Austin came from!

  2. Does this mean that Jack Franks will become “more transparent” about the sexual assault allegations levelled against him..?
