County Board Acts Like a Legislative Body, Fails to Roll Over and Play Dead for Jack Franks – Part 6

Jeff Thorsen

Crystal Lake McHenry County Board member Jeff Thorsen took the floor after Chairman Jack Franks claim of making county government “so much more transparent.”

First, Thorsen pointed out that Franks was receiving the same salary that his predecessor had gotten.

You don’t have have responsibility for County departments .

With regard to the vote on the at-large election of a County Board Chairman, Thorsen pointed out that to impose a County Executive form of government was rejected by voters, but

I think the Board increasingly has ceded a lot of authority to you.

Paul Yensen expressed her support for cutting the County’s elected officials’ salaries by ten percent, as did fellow Democrat Michael Vujik.

Kay Bates

McHenry Republican Kay Bates did likewise:

I shall be supporting this.

Bates added that the 650 small business members of the McHenry Chamber of Commerce, where she is Executive Director, “are suffering.”

Crystal Lake’s John Reinert expressed his displeasure at having been singled out with others on the ballot this fall for explicit criticism by Franks.

This is disingenuous.

He then took out after Democrat Vujik.

Mr. Vujik, you’re on a hundred thousand dollar pension.

You have a lot of gall.
