A Friend of McHenry County Blog found YouTube rendition of the last ten minutes of the speeches at last Saturday’s George Floyd demonstration.
Here is what was sent:
“Open your hearts and truly listen to what people are saying,” urged a speaker at a recent Black Lives Matter rally in Crystal Lake.
The following is a rough summary of a ten minute video on YouTube.

The speaker says he has already lost his dad; and that he is scared of retaliation, violence, and that he has already experienced negativity about what he’s doing.
The speaker says we’re all here fighting because people have differences over pigments in their skin, and that has nothing to do with people’s actions or the quality of their character.
He says his parents won’t come out to support him at the protest because they are afraid.
He says when George Floyd called out for his mom he was calling all moms.
Floyd was also calling to anybody who has been treated differently and ostracized for being who they are.
The speaker says it is disheartening but encouraging to be here today.
Are you going to fight with them or sit down and be comfortable with the way things are?
Are you going to keep letting your friends say the N word even though it bothers a lot of people?
We aren’t supposed to watch these people die and suffer alone.
We are here together as a community because we care so much.
Speaker says people are being discriminated against not for their actions but because of the color of their skin or who they love.
“Discrimination is disgusting.”
It is not the job of black people to educate you.
It is the job of the world, the job of the teachers out there, the job of the politicians.
It is an obligation we all have to take on.
We can no longer sit by or pass by and watch people suffer.
This cause is in my heart and I’m not going to stop fighting.
I’m not going to continue smiling until something actually changes.

The next Crystal Lake City Council meeting is on June 16th. Starting at 7:30, with Public Comment early on, those wishing change in how the CL Police interact with people, have the opportunity to provide their views.
It will be interesting to see if the demonstrators fill the room as they filled the City Hall parking lot.

Trump’s initiatives greatly improved the economy and the job situation for all Americans until the Chinese Virus came along. To me spending the 3+ hours in a car or 5 hours on a train and traveling to Crystal Lake for a rally makes no sense unless something was promised to those lemmings.
