Licensing Police Compared to Licensing Nail Stylists and Barbers

Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot is onto something when she suggests police officers are more important than the people who do nails.

Lightfoot embraces idea of licensing police officers.

“If I go get my nails done – which I don’t do, you can probably tell – but, if I did, the person who is handling my nails is licensed by the state.

“If I go get a haircut, the barber is licensed by the state.”

What she does not understand is that licensing has nothing to do with how important one’s job is or how much those using a service could get hurt by the person doing the job.

Licensing is a way to limit competition.

Those who do nails are licensed because the sponsor of the bill had a “Springfield wife” who was a nail stylist.

Licensing rarely has anything to do with public safety.

Otherwise, med techs, for instance, would be licensed.

If a lab technician makes a mistake, one could die, because of a doctor prescribing the wrong treatment.

Not so with barbers, tree trimmers, etc.

  1. Let’s not stop there, politicians also.

What a good little Marxist Lori is.

  2. Father – while I tend to agree, that would violate union rules, CBA and tenure agreements.

  3. Re Father time comment at 7:16 am.

Licensing teachers? Like driver license testing for competency to operate a vehicle on the road? How would that work? Basic competency common for every teacher plus competency in the subject – math, physics, chemistry, writing/composition, etc? Retake the test periodically?

Also. Would be interesting to know what goes on in classrooms. Are some, any teachers, slyly slipping in their political biases in daily instruction to children, K-12? This could be insidious and children would not realize what is happening. Parents would be unaware. Should teachers wear cameras with audio/video just like cops?

  4. Parents should just take their kids out of public school. Covid exposed its failures once the parents were teaching the kids and getting a good idea of what the lessons really were. They only send home the stuff that actually matters (like math worksheets) and it’s no wonder that they don’t really learn anything in the classroom anymore.

  5. Father Time, Some Guy: Right you are, and Bred, too!

I went to a parent teacher conference in fall, 2014 at Beardsley Middle School.

A flaming homosexual was one of my kid’s teachers.

I played along that I was ‘supportive’ of his efforts, but asked if we could go into his actual classroom.

    He readily agreed.

I never saw so much globalist garbage and LGBTQ trash put up in his room (posters, etc).

As a ruse, I said “I’m glad there’s no American flag in here.”

He then went into a rendition of how he was treating ‘global citizens’ blah, blah, blah.

My kid never went back to that propaganda center.

    We started home schooling.

    And never looked back!

  6. How about licencing loafers and homos like Lori Lightfoot instead?
