Sheriff Reports Motorcyclist “Critical” after Harvard Accident

Sheriff’s Office Investigates Single Motorcycle Crash

A 39-year-old Poplar Grove man is in critical condition after a single motorcycle crash that occurred in unincorporated Harvard late Thursday evening.

On July 2, 2020 at 10:07 p.m., the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office and Harvard Fire Department responded to the scene of a one-vehicle motorcycle crash near the intersection of Lawrence Road and Perkins Road in unincorporated Chemung Township [northwest of Harvard]..

Preliminary investigation indicated that a 2006 Harley-Davidson Motorcycle FLHXI was traveling southbound on Lawrence Road approaching Perkins Road when for unknown reasons it traveled off the roadway into the ditch.

The driver, and sole occupant on the motorcycle, was flown by REACT helicopter to Javon Bea Hospital in Rockford with life-threatening injuries.

The driver was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, and alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash.

The investigation is ongoing by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Major Crash Investigation Unit.

    Was a Blood alcohol test ever run? We’re there any witnesses?

    Otherwise how do they know anything?

    84% of all motorcycle case are not caused by the motorcyclist!

    Operator and passengers are defined as riders.
