Uteg Street Standoff Ends Without Injury

Crystal Lake, IL – On Thursday, July 9, 2020, at approximately 1:36 am, Crystal Lake Police responded to an apartment located in the 200 block of Uteg Street after receiving a report of an adult male resident, possibly armed with a knife, contemplating suicide.

200 block of Uteg Street

Crystal Lake officers quickly established contact with the male.

The male refused police entry and any medical assistance, announcing his intentions to remain within his home.

Concerned for his well-being, officers maintained contact with the man and encouraged him to allow us to provide the assistance he may need.

He adamantly refused any assistance.

Given the unknown intent of the resident, we called for the Northern Illinois Police Alarm System Emergency Services Team (NIPAS EST), a unit comprised of officers from multiple police agencies specifically trained for situations such as this, to respond.

Several NIPAS EST members responded, as did numerous local police agencies to provide support.

Shortly before 5 am, members of NIPAS EST detained the resident without incident after he stepped out of his apartment.

The resident was then transported to a local hospital for an evaluation.

No injuries were reported as a result of this event.

No criminal charges are expected.

Given this was a mental health crisis event and not criminal in nature, no further information will be provided out of respect for the resident’s privacy.

  1. ‘Mental health crisis’????

What about the county government headed by head case Franks?

Why has he not been charged?

Why the cover up of his Springfield sexcapades?

  2. Are they trying to make this section Eight area into a McH Co. version of Englewood?(was

  3. Racial and Lee? It is sad. This used to be a quaint area. It is horrific looking now.
