Impact of Black Lives Matter Demonstrations & Riots

Legal Insurrection, one of my favorite web sites has a writer names Leslie Eastman.

She has followed the science of coronavirus from the beginning and yesterday took on the Main Stream Media’s exoneration of BLM’s mass gatherings as a cause of the increase in infections.

Here is Eastman’s article, reprinted with permission from Legal Insurrection:

Media Pushes Narrative that BLM Protests Did Not Contribute to Spike in Coronavirus Cases

If true, perhaps this proves social distancing guidelines are nothing more than this millennium’s equivalent of leeches and blood-letting.

From YouTube.

For months the Centers for Disease Control has been pressing social distancing guidelines on the nation to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

The recommendations include standing at least 6 feet apart, wearing masks, and using hand sanitizer generously.

All of these rules were thrown out the window by Black Lives Matter protesters as they marched and demonstrated.

As a biosafety expert, I would like to stress:

Furthermore, pillagers and rioters were likely ignoring infection control measures as they tore down statues, burned buildings, and looted stores.

All. The. Rules. Were. Broken.

Now, after the demonstrators engaged in virus-spreading behavior (see the CDC’s own guidelines), there is a deluge of articles about the spikes in coronavirus cases across the country:

The United States reported a daily record of 63,247 new cases of Covid-19 on Thursday, according to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University.

It’s the second time this week the U.S. topped its record for new infections reported in a 24-hour period as outbreaks expand across a number of states, mostly across the American South and West. California, Florida and Texas reported more than 30,400 new cases collectively on Tuesday, according to data from Hopkins, accounting for nearly half all new cases in the U.S.

The U.S. has reported about 53,699 new cases on average over the past seven days, a record high seven-day average, up nearly 17.6% compared with a week ago, according to a CNBC analysis of data collected by Johns Hopkins. The U.S. seven-day average has hit a new record every day for more than two weeks, according to CNBC’s analysis.

There is so much to take issue with here.

I hardly know where to start.

Let me begin by reminding readers that the guidelines were put in place to “flatten the curve” and not overwhelm hospitals…not to hide away until someone discovered a vaccine.

Furthermore, anyone with common sense would expect more cases after reopening, in the absence of a vaccine.

However, treatment options are available, the number of death is declining (from 21,000/week to just over 1,000/week), and the hospitals are not swamped.

These facts are also not being featured.

Instead, our press has decided to protect the social justice narrative and push a new study that absolves the BLM protests of all contribution from the spike:

Black Lives Matter protests haven’t seen coronavirus cases surge in cities since the massive demonstrations began, a study says.

The new research, which was published by the National Bureau of Economic Research, found no evidence that coronavirus cases jumped in 315 cities in the weeks following the first protests.

Researchers determined that protests may have been offset by an increase in social distancing among those who decided not to march.

Using cellphone data, the study determined that more people opted to stay home “perhaps due to fear of violence from police clashes or general unrest.”

“While it is almost certain that the protests caused a decrease in social distancing behavior among protest attendees, we demonstrate that effect of the protests on the social distancing behavior of the entire population residing in counties with large urban protests was positive,” the report reads.

There are many potential explanations for this result, including the possibility that protesters took the virus back home with them and infected more vulnerable family and friends.

Those that skipped the protests now have COVID-cases that they wouldn’t have had otherwise.

A scan of today’s headlines reveal the press is pushing this narrative hard:

Perhaps the bureaucracy, academia, and “journalists” are teaming up to promote a study that had the desired outcome?

They have had years of practice promoting climate change fear using the same technique.

Some analysis tends to confirm common-sense, albeit it hard to find:

See the latest COVID-19 information on Twitter

However, let’s say that the BLM-protests are not responsible for the spike.

I would argue, then, that the entire suite of social distancing guidelines is nothing more than this millennium’s equivalent of leeches and blood-letting.

The original “compact” that was made is that Americans would quarantine themselves to flatten the curve.

Our medical system can now handle the cases, and the fatality infection rate is not as high as forecast, so the country should be reopened without the “spike” scare stories and the lies dressed up as “studies”.

Impact of Black Lives Matter Demonstrations & Riots — 25 Comments

  1. Of course the protests increased the spread.

Anyone who tries to tell you otherwise is either lying or just doesn’t know how to think for themselves.

  2. Surely and logically, BLM Protests have increased the COVID-19 Risks.

    So have beaches, parties, etc.

  3. Yes people getting together increases the spread.

Still doesn’t excuse the hypocrisy of health officials signing a letter saying that protests were OK because racism is more dangerous than covid.

Doesn’t excuse the governor for making excuses for why one group can ignore his orders but not others that he does not agree with.

  4. Two morons that watch teevee and BELIEVE the lies! TURN OFF your TEEVEE and read a real book! You could possibly learn something.

  5. Unfortunately, there’s no way to stop the spread, unless one is in a Communist country.

Otherwise, freewill can’t be stopped. ರ╭╮ರ

  6. The real news: It’s come out BLM has ties to at least two Weather Underground members; Eric Mann (who “mentored” Patrisse Cullors) , and now convicted terrorist Susan Rosenberg, who after 16 years of a 58 year sentence was commuted by Bill Clinton on his last day in office.

What other secrets are they hiding behind a deceptive name?

  7. Becoming more obvious that the covid scam is all about an agreement of lining big pharma’s pockets while simultaneously growing the power of global communist politicians.

With the defunding of WHO and the Trump retweets about the CDC and Fauci lies, it’s all about to come out very soon.

This is very quickly going to be used to tear down the liars who’ve used this to achieve money and power.

  8. So nothing more than All Fake News again!

    what a surprise

  9. I have no sure way of knowing covid-19 is real or fake.

    Regardless, people will die anyway.

If I get corona, I get corona. If it’s real, I can’t stop myself from catching it.

If it’s fake, I’ll catch some other disease.

    That’s life.

  10. Lots of things going on here, and everyone wants to narrow it down to 1 thing.

    You can’t.

You’ve got headlines saying that BLM protests did not cause the SPIKE/OUTBREAK in cases.

    Semantics matter.

Is the BLM protest the sole cause of this latest SPIKE?

    No way.

You’ve got a graph which highlights the dates of the BLM protest prior to a large spike.

This can be sort of misleading to most people, but definitely misleading to 99% of the people who read this blog.

Nevermind that those same dates coincide with summer vacation travel spikes, states’ increased alleviation of initial Phased periods, growing numbers of people coming out of stricter quarantine, and wearing mask becoming a “political statement”…put BLM matter at the base of that spike and the closet racists will run with it.

For those of you pointing to BLM protest–most of which required masks–as the sole cause of this spike, while you go around maskless in large crowds claiming this is this is all a hoax… I hope you eventually receive the Darwin Award.

  11. Some people suffer form multiple personality disorder.

    Hmmmmmm

Could that include “Some Guy” ……lol

  12. What are you even talking about, DALA?

What’s so “lol” worthy that you communicate like a teenage basement dweller?

  13. The Tweet for the above link:

“ERRORS FOUND: Florida’s positivity rate is skewed. #FOX35 went through #COVID19 test reports & found many clinics reporting 100% positivity. @orlandohealth admits their number is wrong, saying it shows 98% positive, but it’s actually 9.4%. @fox35orlando”

  14. Let’s talk numbers when we can determine how morbid of a disease this is.

My co-worker’s mom and girl friend had covid tests months apart, so I guess by process of elimination I’ve not had it.

The reasons for why they had the tests were medically related, they didn’t run out to get their nose swabbed just because.

  15. I dunno.

There are so many lies at this point anyway.

I don’t even care about what the fake data says.

  16. There are reports of Bubonic Plague in Inner Mongolia, China, the country of Mongolia and a squirrel in Morrison, Colorado. ಠ︵ಠ

  17. I’m with some guy and Cindy, the only logical, rational posters here.

  18. Prince Rupert, please don’t bite people and Trump. ¯\_ʘ‿ʘ_/¯

  19. A virus wouldn’t dare interfere with protests and riots conducted by groups that abide by the Leftist “Narrative.”
