Lakewood Meeting Cancelled for “Lack of an Agenda”

Never saw a notice like this before:

When we last left the Lakewood Village Board an informal vote had been taken to exonerate Village President Phil Stephan and Chief Administrative Office Jeanne Smith from wrongdoing concerning interaction with Village employees.

Of interest was a question from Trustee Pam Eddy, who asked about monthly financial reports, specifically the lack of one for the month of May.

Smith replied that they were not prepared yet, that there was a $530,000 discrepancy.

“There’s a half a million error,” Trustee Ryan Berman explained.

“I don’t think we can approve them.”

  1. Another political body of assorted dip shits, losers and neer do wells in my humble opinion.

  2. 530,000 dollar discrepancy in what?

In one month’s worth of bills, for a tiny town?

Those government people in Lakewood are really playing with fire.

  3. Don’t sweat the small stuff…

I mean what’s half a million dollars among friends?

    Right??

  4. It’s only taxpayer money…. chill out!

Illinois citizens have no standing to bitch about getting fleeced. Gov. Pritzker sez so!

    OBEY!

  5. Are these people for real.

Can Paul Serwatka be hired back to bring rationality and clean government back to Lakewood?

He was smart and saw how IL was degenerating and saved his family.

  6. The current President, Phil Stephen, was Paul Serwatka’s right hand man and hand picked heir apparent .

    Are you kidding?!

BTW, Serwatka is running in the same recycled corruption and sewer backup platform in Decatur Alabama that he didn’t fix in Lakewood!!

    LOL!

    More Kool-Aid Oathkeeper?

  7. Oathkeeper, Paul hired the current CAO and the current president was his right hand man.

He is not as smart as you think.

You could argue this mess is somewhat his fault.

But facts mean nothing to the Serwatka lemmings.

  8. Short of annexation or abolition of the village, I hope that EVERYBODY in a position of power in Lakewood is replaced, regardless of what side they’re on.

That village needs a clean break.

They’re totally dysfunctional and there is a lot of blame to go around.

Think about that as the 2021 election draws near…

  9. Can’t hold Serwatka responsible for the lack of integrity of Stephan and Smith and the lack of oversight and accountability in his absence.

This stuff didn’t happen when he was here.

And the one who tried was you Jason Mcmahon.

    Tried and failed.

  10. Jason McMahan a real prawn (not pawn) of a corrupt system.

    A bottom feeding prawn

  11. Alg Voter, what does it say about Serwatka though, that he hired, associated with and supported people as you say, lack integrity and oversight.

That dosent help his case. SMH.

  12. Some people can’t handle power.

Stephan has proved he is on who can not.

A good soldier perhaps, but not cut out to be a General.

As for Smith, she serves at the pleasure of the president.

The only checks on any of it would be the trustees and it appears they are typical empty seats.

  13. Alg Voter knows the score.

Things certainly went south for Lakewood when Paul S. Headed South.
