Sheriff Transfers Forty-Three Felons to State Prison after End of Priztker State Boycott

For months, the Illinois Department of Corrections has refused to accept prisoners convicted of felonies.

They have remained in the McHenry County Jail with their attendant costs.

Earlier this month the ban on putting these felons where they belong was lifted by the Pritzker Administration.

The result was the transfer of forty-one males and two females to state custody.

  1. Stay tuned for the get out of jail cards to be given out now…

  2. So the real jail birds are all gone now, and the ICE detainees future there is in question.

that makes the County Jail meet its original purpose, to house the locals 3 D’s.

    DUI, Drugs, Domestics.

Going to be pretty sleepy and slow over there soon if ICE goes.

  3. bkl has it right.

If you have a backlog of prisoners and suddenly the gates to their new residence open, you can’t just have every county “bring ’em on down.”

The DOC can process only so many arrivals in a day, You can’t have the sheriff just head down to Joliet with 43 bodies.

There has to be a scheduling which, given the length of the moratorium, will take weeks to efficiently deal with.

  4. Here is something to look into. Why are all the prisoners now being occupied by making heat resistant body bags?
