Local 150 Files Paperwork Seeking Indirect Civil Contempt for Algonquin Township Road Commissioner Andrew Gasser

Monday, Local 150 of the International Union of Operating Engineers filed a motion by Robert A. Paszta seeking an indirect contempt of court ruling against Algonquin Township Highway Commissioner Andrew Gasser.

It relates the firing of Derek Lee, Andrew Rosecrans, and Nick Chirikos and Gasser’s “announce[ment] that he was repudiating the collective bargaining agreement previously entered into by the Road District and Local 150.”

The filing goes back to the day Gasser took office more than three years ago.

It notes that Ryan Greene and Dan Morrison were fired later.

“FOIA records reveal that taxpayers have spent nearly $500,000.00 in legal
fees to fund the Road District’s losing legal battle” and points out the Illinois Labor Relations Board ordered “the Road District to pay Local 150’s legal fees and costs.”

“…arbitrators required the Road District to reinstate Dan Morrison, Derek Lee, and Ryan Greene.”

Local 150 sent Road District Attorney Robert Hanlon an August 6th email saying, “Please let us know when the employees should return to work and then we can try to schedule time to work through the backpay calculations,” but, “To date, the Road District has not reinstated any of the employees and therefore has not complied with this Court’s July 30, 2020 Order.”

It concludes, “The Road District has violated this Court’s Order by failing to reinstate Dan Morrison, Derek Lee, or Ryan Greene.

“WHEREFORE, for all the above reasons, Local 150 respectfully respects that this Court issue a Rule to Show Cause, which includes the date, time, and location for a hearing where Mr. Gasser can explain why he should not be held in indirect civil contempt for failing to obey this Court’s July 30, 2020 Order. In addition, Local 150 respectfully requests that this Court enter any
other appropriate relief it deems appropriate, including attorneys’ fees.”

  1. Gasser will waste more tax $$$ right up till May of 2021 when he leaves office.

May can not come soon enough.

  2. I applaud Gasser’s attempts to undo a half century of a politically corrupt dynasty of crooks.

Like Romania after the fall of communism, there were still many communist holdovers.

  3. Hey Nob want to tell our reading audience how much waste is in the school system?

    How about Springfield?

How about when the Miller’s were in charge?

The list is long and wide however, the difference is someone is actually trying to fight the good fight and not the lining of their own pockets!
