McHenry Township Board Majority’s Effort to Force Abolition Referendum This Fall Thwarted in Court — 31 Comments

  1. Of course they’ll appeal!

    McHenry Township Board?

    Uh-duh!

    ✌️😎

  2. Joe “follow the law” Tirio vs Bob “I do whatever I want” Anderson

We all knew the judge would side with Tirio, because Tirio is on the side of the law while Anderson is on the side of Anderson.

  3. They got so excited when this Township Abolition process got passed, I don’t think they read or understood it much.

Even though the 23-month stipulation was both plainly stated, as well as consistently mentioned in the run up to the election.

    They just weren’t crafty enough.

Nunda went ahead and did their own preemptive strike and got their NO referendum.

McHenry “blew it”, where their own constituency beat them to the punch.

Either of these two NO’s can be revisited every 2 years, so gear up!

    ✌️😎

  4. Since the last snowplow Bob referendum was voted down by 80%, why on earth do the 3 anti township trustees remain on the board?

They do not represent the citizens of McHenry Township, only their dark interests in screwing the citizens of the township.

The 3 of them should resign as this childish behavior is beyond any common sense.

  5. I sided with the judge until I got to page 3.

What it really amounts to is government closing the wagon train and not allowing people to vote out a layer of government.

Since school districts put failed referenda back on the next election, what gives.

  6. Blah, blah, blah, Tirio has become the big government advocate.

Everybody knows the protownship people tried to get it on the low turnout election to prevent it from ever reaching the General Presidential election, to skew the dice.

That’s why they passed the petitions.

All to circumvent the general election,

  7. Mrs Trumpion,

Because the specific law regarding dissolution requires it can only be brought up for Referrendum every two or more years until there is a yes vote.

In the case of Nunda, the result was YES, but what, 28 years hence?

If I’m not mistaken, the Nunda vote still allows it to be brought up again.

    ✌️😎

  8. The anti township mastermind has been at this for decades, longer than US troops have been in Afghanistan.

    It’s akin to an occupation.

  9. Gary Puckett,

    Low turnout?

More people voted in the primary with the dissolution question then voted for the current McHenry Township board, 2,464 more people.

Voters were split nearly 50/50 Democratic and Republican (based no votes cast for the presidential primary) the difference being 14 more Republicans voted.

Voter turnout was higher in McHenry Township for the 2020 primary then the 2017 consolidated (the election where the the current board, minus Verr, won)

    2017 consolidated: 19% turnout

    2020 Primary: 26% turnout

More people voted on the township question then voted for the presidential primary (says a lot about the confidence in the primary options)

Votes on the township question: 9,320

Votes on the presidential primary: 9,080

  10. The judge says the ‘losing party’ must wait 23 months.

But the ‘losing party’ in the first referendum was a pro-township faction trying to get into a low turnout election.

But this time it was the Township bd itself.

    Ruling is stupid.

Just a protection racket for townships.

I won’t be voting for Tirio or Costello again.

But all this gives me ideas for Grafton Township, a tax boondoggle run by crooks. Al Zielinski’s days are running out!

  11. Stop supporting a lawyer that gives bad advice, it’s a waste of tax dollars.

  12. Has anyone actually bothered to investigate just where the massive tax savings due to dissolving the Township are going to come from?

The revised Township Code only provides for decreasing the property tax levy by 10%, and only for one year.

Any bets that within three years we would be paying more in taxes to the county and for far less services?

And our “tax-fighter” trustees keep spending our money on their personal vendetta.

A great example is the almost useless alleged cost/benefit analysis. First they hire a company that has absolutely no experience in the subject matter and they accept a product that is mostly an exercise in fluff and space filling (believe me, I spent 35 years in the business).

And then they hire a high-priced attorney to challenge a law that is actually written in plain English.

Now that they have reduced the the salaries for the Supervisor, Road Commissioner and Assessor positions to about $21.00 per hour, and no insurance, care to guess how many people with the proper skills and experience are going to be running for these positions?

Stay tuned for the next exciting chapter of “Kill the Township from Within”.

  13. Teekay, I say GOOD! The township officials, like all govt officials are WAY OVERPAID! THEY DO NOTHING EXCEPT SHOW UP ON PAY DAY!

  14. Mike Tauler, what difference does it make on those vote totals? Bob Anderson won, and you libturds seek to nullify the election, just like Trump’s.

    You can go to hell.

I don’t give a hoot about townships, but now I see what worms like you are coming out of the woodwork defending them.

    Makes me think.

  15. Barber Bob Anderson and his accomplices “won” the election because they first rigged the Republican caucus, allowing their crony Precinct Committeemen to cast HUNDREDS of “weighted” votes while mere mortal Republicans like us could only cast ONE vote.

But the Jack Franks-worshippers on this page are just fine with that.

They like seeing the Republican party stolen by an 82-year-old barber and his insider friends, who have spent THOUSANDS OF TAXPAYER DOLLARS to their pet consultants and attorneys to pursue their political feud.

Just don’t pretend you all are Republicans, okay?

If nothing else, it could prove embarrassing for you the next time you kneel to lick Jack Franks’ boots…

  16. The vote totals show two things:

    1. It wasn’t a “low turnout”
    2. Ahab, sleepy, and chuckles don’t have the mandate they say they have. (Especially not chuckles, he lost his bid for supervisor)

The only way they even wound up on the ballot was by rigging the caucus (like the Democratic party did before the last presidential election)

They lost on consolation of the road district in to the township

They lost on the buss referendum

They lost on the township dissolution question

They lost in court on Monday

Lastly Bob lost way back when he tried to eliminate all townships in the county

The only thing they ever won they had to cheat to get.

But “Deputydoom” and “oathkeeper” have no counter to the facts, and are too busy wrapping up the townships in neat little bows to offer more power to the county seat to come up with better retorts then “Antifa Kingpin” and “libturds”.

  17. Tauler take your leftist cancel culture back to your satanist pad.

    You belong as disassociated molecules.

Try molybdenum disulfide for your neuro problems.

  18. @Tauler

Tell me what the voter turnout would be in a general election?

Much more than a primary and it would give a truer idea of whether people wanted it or not.

Anderson should have put on the November election a non-binding resolution for proof.

Instead he wasted a purely good opportunity to find out exactly where people stand.

@Creole Tirio did the correct thing and the ruling was clear with no room for interpretation.

Following the law isn’t his fault!

You want that law changed talk to your State Legislator!

  19. And next, Barber Bob and his insider cronies will lose their Trustee seats in the Consolidated Election.

Maybe Oathkeeper and Cornpop can join Jack Franks in consoling the Bob Anderson Three when the voters kick them out…

  20. Clerk must follow the law.

The lawyer will appeal as long as he’s going to be able to bill for it.

    Waste of township tax dollars.

The Township can put the question back on the ballot 23 months after the last time it was on the ballot, just like the law says.

  21. For God sakes don’t let people vote on Townships in the biggest election turnout every 4 years.

What’s Tirio and township employees so afraid about?

According to them the majority of taxpayers want to keep the overblown township govt.

Yet they take it off the ballot.

Strange, if you ask me. Something is screwed up in that picture.

  22. Notice Costello couldn’t even get the name of the party that initiated the lawsuit!

He. Wrote that Tirio filed the suit when it was the Township.

So if Costello couldn’t figure out which party filed the lawsuit what does that say about his ability as a judge?

  23. Costello must have gone to the same diploma mill as Kenneally.

They write pages and pages of excuses.

I’m speaking at our POA Election Night in October.

I’m the POA civic and political affairs officer and will be emailing over a hundred households with my list of conservative candidates to vote for, along with my hopefully funny sketch as to my reasoning for each recommendation.

There’s cheat sheet single pager attached people can take to the polls attached, too) I do know that many defer to my selections by the pct vote totals (I’m the GOP Pct Committeeman, too).

Costello will not get my recommendation, and I’m on the verge of axing Tirio, too.

It seems to me people should be able to vote.

It’s funny how school districts can put up referendums immediately on the next ballot after being voted down in the last election, and do not have to wait 2 yrs. but not this one which would save money.

  24. Form a PLAN, based on the numbers and facts, whining and trying to settle the issue in court doesn’t cut it.

If you really want it do the work and prove your point.

Don’t whine if the numbers aren’t in your favor.

Stop making a lawyers with proven bad advice richer.

  25. More members of the Jack Franks Adoration Society.

They SO desperately want to transfer the Townships’ TWO PERCENT of the tax bill straight into McHenry County Chairman Jack Franks’ budget.

    Don’t believe me?

How many of the “CPTKangaroos” and “Leopardmans” have actually READ the law..?

  26. Judge Costello is an appointed Associated Judge.

Joe Tirio is not on the ballot this year.
