From the U.S. Attorney:

Man Charged in Federal Court with Illegally Possessing Loaded Gun after Allegedly Looting Downtown Chicago Store

CHICAGO — The U.S. Attorney’s Office has charged a man with a federal firearm offense after he allegedly illegally possessed a loaded gun while looting a store in downtown Chicago earlier this month.

JAVONTE T. WILLIAMS, 27, of Chicago, is charged with one count of illegal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Williams was prohibited from possessing a gun after previously being convicted of a felony firearm offense in the Circuit Court of Cook County, for which he was sentenced to probation.

Williams was arrested this morning on the federal charge and made an initial appearance in federal court.  U.S. Magistrate Judge Sheila M. Finnegan ordered Williams to remain in federal custody pending a detention hearing on Sept. 1, 2020, at 2:00 p.m.

The charge was announced by John R. Lausch, Jr., United States Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois; Kristen deTineo, Special Agent-in-Charge of the Chicago Field Division of the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives; and David Brown, Superintendent of the Chicago Police Department.  Valuable assistance was provided by the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office in bringing this charge.  The government is represented by Assistant U.S. Attorney Christopher V. Parente.

According to the federal criminal complaint, Chicago Police officers observed Williams exiting a closed retail store in the first block of East Randolph Street in downtown Chicago at 5:00 a.m. on Aug. 10, 2020.

Williams was carrying merchandise in his hands as he exited the store, the complaint states.

As officers pursued and arrested Williams, a semi-automatic handgun fell from his body to the ground, the complaint states.

The gun was loaded with seven rounds of ammunition in the magazine and one in the chamber, according to the complaint.

The case was brought under Operation Legend, a Department of Justice initiative in which federal law enforcement agencies work in conjunction with state and local law enforcement to fight violent crime.

As part of Operation Legend, Attorney General William P. Barr directed ATF, FBI, U.S. Marshals Service, and DEA to significantly increase resources in Chicago to help state and local officials fight violent crime, particularly firearm offenses.

The public is reminded that a complaint is not evidence of guilt.  The defendant is presumed innocent and entitled to a fair trial at which the government has the burden of proving guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

Illegal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon is punishable by up to ten years in federal prison.  If convicted, the Court must impose a reasonable sentence under federal statutes and the advisory U.S. Sentencing Guidelines.

  1. Good for the feds keep nailing them.

Interesting thing is it says he was arrested this morning.

Later on the article says officers chased him down on August 10th and when they tackled him a gun fell to the ground.

My question is why has this convicted felon, who was apparently apprehended by CPD after being observed committing a crime, in possession of a loaded gun doing out on the streets for the last three weeks?

My other question to the state republicans is what are you doing to try and get a republican states attorney into Cook County?

This is your chance to get your foot back in the door there.

If you check out what people have been saying on reddit you will find that Chicagoans really are starting to despise Foxx

  2. Hi Cal. It’s easy to discern Javonte’s race, by his first name.

Javonte is a Black name. 😮✔️

  3. Neal, I don’t think Republican Leadership is doing much to assist Republican CCSA Candidate Pat O’Brien. ☹️

I have tried contacting these leaders, to no avail:

    Illinois GOP Chair:
    Tim Schneider

    Cook County Chair:
    Sean Morrison

[Sean Morrison is a Cook County Commissioner (R-17), Palos Township GOP Committeeperson and State Central GOP Committeeperson, 3rd Congressional District.]

    Chicago GOP Chair:
    Steve Boulton

    Chicago Northwest Side GOP Chair:
    Matt Podgorski

For Norwood Park Township and Chicago Wards 38, 39, 41 and 45.

    😐❗🔔📢❓🆘⛔☢️⚠️

  4. I read reddit posts supporting Kim Foxx.

I haven’t seen any supporting anyone else. ☹️⛔

  5. Well they might be deleted but after the latest rioting on Michigan Ave, they were all over her.

I’m from Chicago and I can see them going with a republican SA in the current environment.

Republicans have a better reputation on being tough on crime and people are afraid.

There will not be a better chance for Illinois republicans than this year for some time.

  6. Cook County has strong Democratic pockets, including Chicago, Oak Park, Maywood, Bellwood, Park Ridge, Evanston, Harvey, Robbins and more. 😮

  7. I understand the politics of Cook County.

I just believe a lot of that goes out the window once people are shooting at each other and burning down buildings.

Many people who would never vote for Trump would have no problem voting for O’Brien.

Why should the republicans just keep conceding the cities?

Even if they don’t win this time, they can start making a dent.

  8. Cal, you serious or are you just playing dumb?

Here’s your little Javonte in person, take a good look.

    There are millions of Javontes.

They overwhelmingly fill our prison system.

And they didn’t get there by fabricated evidence or crimes, a large percentage of which is perpetrated on other black.

Yes, there is no systemic racism.

It’s a genetic inability of impulse control and living in a modern, society the Javontes cannot hope to successfully navigate given innate racial differences.

    Do the math.

All the ant-White (and anti-Asian, too btw) official systems of US/Canadian/UK governmental/university/societal racial discrimination called ‘affirmative action’ will NEVER rectify or cure the vast IQ differential and other psychological traits of the Javontes.

All the coddling and trotting out highly exceptional (typically mixed race) that went on in BOTH recent national conventions for 10,000 years will not change a thing, well, unless, the entire human population is dumbed down through mandatory interracial breeding,

    Take a good luck Cal.

Wait till the riots and rapine really commence!:

  9. Anyone who doesn’t think that lifelong democrats can vote republican check this out

    https://youtu.be/GuD3eqPLh3c

Or if you are a Trump supporter and just want to feel a little better.

This apparently has been a thing on cspan the last few days.

  10. Hi Neal. 🙂

These are the rare Republican Cook County wins I remember:

    1972 Cook County State’s Attorney

Republican Bernard Carey won over Incumbent Democrat Edward Hanarahan.

Carey lost to Richard M. Daley in 1980. ☹️

Cause: Blacks were angered over the murders of Black Panthers Fred Hampton and Mark Clark.

    1986 Cook County Sheriff

Republican James O’Grady won over Incumbent Democrat Richard Elrod.

    Cause: corruption, scandals

O’Grady, the former CPD Superintendent, lost in 1990 to Chicago Ald. Mike Sheahan (19), due to corruption and scandals with Jim Dvorak. 😐

    1990 Cook County State’s Attorney

Republican Jack O’Malley defeated Appointed Incumbent Democrat Cecil Partee, who replaced Daley who became Chicago Mayor in 1989.

Cause: Partee was accused of being a deadbeat dad and slumlord. Blacks weren’t that enthused about Partee and worn out about the Chicago Mayor’s Race. 😐

    1992 Cook County State’s Attorney

    O’Malley defeated Chicago Ald. Pat O’Connor (40).

Cause: O’Connor was anti-Chicago Mayor Harold Washington. 😐

    1994 5th Congressional District

Republican Michael Flannigan won over Incumbent Democrat Daniel Rostenkowski. ❗

    Causes: scandals, remapped district

    😮

  11. Eddie,

Again, I understand the history of how Chicago votes.

Let’s also keep in mind, when riots happened on old man Dale’s watch, the order was shoot to kill if they are committing arson.

Had the the democrats of today responded in a similar manner, we would not be having this discussion.

We are obviously in the most significant period of our history since at least ww2 and possibly since the civil war.

I say voting history goes out the window.

Did you even listen to those people?

  12. Neal, yes I listened.

Thanks for the post and video. 🙂

Unfortunately, this won’t be the case, in most of Cook County. ☹️

  13. Hey I never said Durbin would lose, but a states attorney when the city is terrified of criminals, and the police union giving money and endorsing her opponent.

    I think it’s possible.

  14. Illinois Candidates That Won In Cook County

    Governor

    Richard Olgivie 1968

[Also, Cook County Board President 1966, Cook County Sheriff 1962]

    James Thompson
    1976 (assisted by Daley I), 1978, 1982, 1986

    Jim Edgar 1990, 1994

    George Ryan 1998

    Secretary of State

    Jim Edgar 1982, 1986

    George Ryan 1990, 1994

    Comptroller

    Judy Baar Topinka 2010

    Treasurer

    Judy Baar Topinka
    1994, 1998, 2002

    😮

  15. Neal, it’s possible, but not probable for these reasons:

    Toni Preckwinkle Machine is strong,

    Kim Foxx’s social justice reforms,

White Guilt over systemic racism, George Floyd, etc.

    Party loyalty.

More Republican Illinois Candidates That Won Cook County:

    US Senator:

    Charles Percy
    1966, 1972, 1978

    Everett Dirksen
    1950, 1956, 1962

    😮

  16. You are just proving my point.

I never said she would lose.

I said this is the best opportunity to do so in a very long time.

    And as far as this

    “Kim Foxx’s social justice reforms”

That’s precisely the weakness that should be attacked.

  17. Neal, I agree with you. 🤓

A lot of crime ridden voters agree with Foxx, which is the problem. ☹️⛔

  18. I like to have more optimistic view of my hometown and assume that most of the city isn’t criminals.

Actually I know that’s not true the real question is, with all this violence, will they see the error of their ways

  19. You forgot Jack O’Malley, State’s Attorney from 1990–1996.

Four years later, he was elected to the 2nd Appellate Court where we live and served ten years.

  20. Hi Cal. I included Jack O’Malley as CCSA (8/29/2020 2 PM) 🙂, but not as judge ☹️. Thank you and respectfully. 🙂
