IL-06: First Head to Head Candidates Forum Scheduled

Sean Casten
Jeanne Ives

Save the Date: Monday, September 21, 7PM CDT

Last week, the Downers Grove, Woodridge and Lisle chapter of the League of Women Voters of Illinois announced the first head-to-head candidates forum between Congressman Sean Casten and Republican challenger Jeanne Ives.

According to the LWV website, the forum attendees will be through ZOOM in a webinar setting.

It is unclear if Casten and Ives will be in the same room with the LWV moderator(s), or if they will be virtual from separate locations.

The LWV website states registration information will be available at a later date.

With the Monday night setting on September 21, the LWV forum will take place prior to the first vote-by-mail ballots hitting the street locally on Thursday, the 24th.

There is no mention of including the Libertarian Party candidate who’s on the ballot and survived a petition objection. The forum will likely stay between the two established party candidates.

  1. The should be in the same room, no reason they can’t.

Easy enough to get a studio or something like that.

Hopefully Ives will push the issue of why Rep. Casten’s party is supporting violent criminals.

This line of attack should be non stop until November.

Force them to say things that normal Americans want to hear, that will upset the criminal wing of the democratic party.

Make them turn on their own base, and lose the election because of it.

  2. I’ll also add, if there is anyone out there that needs technical help with things like that, I can assist.

    Such things are my specialty.

I do high level video conference type stuff and have done so for years.

I routinely do this kind of thing for people who are spending tens of thousands of dollars, and would be willing to help any group trying to put on a legitimate debate virtually.

  3. You might offer your help to the Village of Lakewood.

    Friday night was not ideal.

  4. Cal, if you know anyone who does need that kind of help, you can give them my email.

I trust your judgment on who should or should not get that information.

  5. The million dollar question is will Ives debate Casten on violent criminals? 😐

  6. Let’s hope you include Libertarian Bill Redpath in the debate – it will elevate the debate and keep them honest!

  7. Where does Casten stand on the BLM riots?

    And defunding the police?

Much more important questions than townships.

  8. Some townships are beneficial, some aren’t.

It’s up to each town, village or city to decide. 😁

  9. Once again, Eddie impresses us with his shockingly cogent insight !🀣

  10. Once again, HonestAbe1 impresses us with his shockingly cogent insight! πŸ€£πŸ˜‚

  11. Casten is the dope who stupidly said that an abortion of a fetus is no different than removing a diseased gall bladder.

Is he ok with Democrat mayors in NY and DC who paint the name of this marxist organization in big letters on their city streets?

  12. I could tell that because there is a “D” next to his name.

Seriously the moderate democrats that are left should either start a new party or join the republicans.

They are just going to keep trying to push you out anyway by running crazy progressives in the primaries.

  13. Unless they explicitly state otherwise, that seems to be the party position.

  14. That’s pretty much all then, at least for now. πŸ˜βœ”οΈ

  15. Save townships from what?

    Federal investigations?

    Tax payer wrath?

    Their inherent corruption?

    Obsolescence?

  16. If Bill Redpath isn’t allowed to participate, then it’s not a legitimate debate. More perpetrated election fraud as usual.

  17. League rules in 2002 for it proposed gubernatorial debate were that any candidate polling 5% in A credible survey would be included.

I did so in the 1,000+ Southtown Economist poll.

After learning that both Democrat Rod Blagojevich and Republican Jim Ryan chickened out of the League debate.

If the rules are the same for congressional debates, Redpath would have to show 5% support to be included.

  18. Re 5:52 PM on Aug 30. Didn’t the big name chicago newspaper divulge a private sex matter of Ryan and his wife to destroy his credibility and then allow the community organizer, Barak, to emerge as a candidate for senator to eventually become the president and then as history shows, the absolute worst ever president of the US? To what extent should the newspaper be accountable for the 8 years of gross incompetence by their outing a private matter of the Republican senate candidate? Think of how better our nation would have been if Barak Hussein Obama had never been president. An absolute disgusting record by Barak Hussein Obama and his sidekick Joe Biden for eight years.

  19. Search β€œantifa” .

It directs you to Biden’s official website.

    Cal –

And how the fuck is he supposed to do that when none of the stupid polling groups ever include all of the candidates?

The polling groups and LWV are just tools for voter choice suppression.

  21. Never mind – LWV realizes the fuckup they made for their 2018 gubernatorial debate (the second debate) and is saving face by including Redpath in the debate.

  22. If they’re just not going to do polls, Redpath should be included in the debates.

You can’t refuse to do polls and then exclude a candidate from the debates based on the fact that the candidate did not meet certain polling criteria when no polls are being done.

    That is not fair.

It is what is known as a catch 22.

We shouldn’t have attitudes like “beats me.”

We should have an attitude like, get him in the debate or at least do a poll. We demand it.

Also, how are townships a federal issue that Casten or Ives would have any control over?

I don’t think townships are going to change at all regardless of who wins that seat.

They are no different now that Pelosi is speaker instead of Paul Ryan, they are no different with Casten than with Roskam.

Township code is written by the STATE and whether you have a township at all is up to the LOCAL people of that potential township.

Every time township changes have been proposed (in this county) it was defeated badly here.

I really don’t understand why the township people are so afraid when their side is always winning referendums anyway.

These are not confident people, these are frightened people. Why are they so scared and not confident?
