GEU GERON-BORJAS SENTENCED TO SIX YEARS IN THE ILLINOIS DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS FOR THE OFFENSE OF AGGRAVATED DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE
Patrick D. Kenneally, McHenry County State’s Attorney, announces that 48-year-old Geu Geron-Borjas of Crystal Lake, Illinois, was sentenced to six years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for the offense of aggravated driving under the influence by the Honorable Judge Wilbrandt on September 3, 2020.
On June 1, 2019, the defendant drove his Dodge Charger in the wrong lane of traffic on Route 47 and collided with a Chevrolet Express containing teenage occupants.
One of the teenagers suffered great bodily harm as a result of the crash.
The defendant later submitted to chemical testing, which revealed his blood alcohol level was .148.
The defendant’s driving privileges have previously been revoked and he has two prior violations for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol.
The defendant is also subject to truth in sentencing guidelines because of the great bodily harm suffered by the victim.
This case was investigated by members of the Woodstock Police Department.
This case was prosecuted by Susanne Groebner of the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office.
