My Crystal Lake Kiwanis Club met under a Lippold Park shelter last Wednesday.
At the western edge of the park is what you see below.
No one had any idea of its purpose.
Do any readers have a guess?

Looks like a bat house.
Possibly an old structure for weather instruments.
I would guess the remains of a ‘privy’, or an ‘outhouse’ to some.
Hallie and Lenore Lippold were the first people from CL I was introduced too, way back in ‘63 when we moved from Glenview.
They were our new neighbors.
Some of the finest folks this county produced, ALWAYS there to lend a hand, even when our cattle escaped the fence in the middle of the night, or when my folks would take their annual winter vacation, Hallie took care of the animals and Lenore would feed us her delicious cooking.
Still remember her rhubarb pie!
Having no children, they donated (I think) the prime farmland known as Lippold Park.
Anyone who knew the Lippolds were enriched by their genuine friendship and dedication to serving the community.
I certainly was!
It is a bat house, currently inhabited by an old bat called Paula Yensen.
Nah, you are all wrong.
This is the current residence of the “Oracle Of McHenry County”, Little Eddie.
Mystery solved, case closed.
When are you moving in you old bat.
It’s the residence of Honest Abe1Casten. 😮
No, it’s the new abode of a CL taxpayer, taxed out of his home by the GOP/Demoncrat combine!
Get rid of Rinos!
RINOS like Joe the Goat-mauler!
It’s my home.
And the tax bill is $1239.44!
I gotta move soon.
Bathouse, which at the rate we’re being taxed on our homes, it’s our future mini home
