Circuit Court Judge David Gervais held a fundraiser at Crystal Lake’s Three Oaks Recreation Area Friday night.

It was an informal affair with kids aplenty.

State Rep. Allen Skillicorn attend the Three Oaks Recreation Area fundraiser of Republican Judge David Gervais on Friday evening.

Although he did not bring signs, he acted like a candidate for re-election.

Less of a surprise was the presence of McHenry County Board Chairman Jack Franks.

He and his father Herb attended the fundraising event of Judge Justin Hansen the week before and, being lawyers, regularly make their presence known at pretty much every judicial fundraiser.

Franks spent a fair amount of time conversing with the President of the Woodstock School Board, attorney Carl Gilmore, also a Democrat.

Republican Party County Board Chairman candidate Mike Buehler worked the crowd.

Entrepreneurs Carlos Garcia and Bill Kordopitoulas brought their food truck.

Footlong hot dogs and tamales were served. (I remembered the purpose of a fundraiser is to raise funds. Keeping expenses low helps a lot.)

Mark Daniels was the Master of Ceremonies, introducing public officials and candidates.

Franks left the event with a Gervais yard sign, something Gervais’ Democratic Party opponent Elisabeth Vonau probably would not approve of.

And, of course, taking the sign helps Franks’ carefully crafted image of really being a Republican.
