Negative ad with Pat Brady in September betrays the race is closer than ratings indicate
Congressman Sean Casten’s campaign released its first negative TV commercial against Republican challenger Jeanne Ives.
The new ad is part of the $2.4 million broadcast and cable TV buy Casten has through Election Day.
COMMENTARY: In light of Casten’s sub-par performance at Monday night’s candidates forum and internal polling, Casten’s campaign going to this hit piece in late September is an indication the 6th congressional district race is close, in spite of the major ratings (Cook Political, Sabato Crystal Ball) this seat as “Safe Democrat”.
Just like Casten’s opening and closing statements Monday, Casten now playing the Trump card, taking a single quote completely out of context from a Daily Herald story dated February 12. and not letting the viewer know the context the quote referenced.
By contrast, in the 14th Jim Oberweis’ attack ad gave the context of when and where the quote from Lauren Underwood was said, though the commercial showed the wrong date.
