Crystal Lake’s Enhanced Traffic Enforcement Running Today Through Halloween

From the Crystal Lake Police Department:

Don’t be haunted by scary decisions – drive sober

Crystal Lake is stepping up enforcement of impaired driving, distracted
driving, speeding and occupant protection enforcement for Halloween

Crystal Lake, IL – While Halloween celebrations may be different this year, many ghosts and ghouls will still be on the “haunt” for a frighteningly good time. The Crystal Lake Police Department today reminded motorists of the importance of planning for a sober ride home before the scares start and keeping watch for little goblins walking along roads after dark

This CL Police stop occurred yesterday on route 14 before Enhanced Enforcement.

Driving impaired by alcohol, marijuana or any other substance in Illinois is not only scary, it’s illegal.

Remember: DUIs are not restricted to alcohol-related offenses.

If you drive high, you’ll get a DUI.

The Crystal Lake Police Department asks everyone to follow these simple tips to help keep our roads safe this Halloween:

 Plan for a safe and sober way home before you go out: designate a sober driver, take public transportation, use your favorite ride-sharing service, or call a sober friend or family member.
 If you see an impaired driver on the road, contact local law enforcement as soon as you can safely do so.
 If you see an impaired person about to drive, take their keys and help them get home safely.
 Don’t speed and wear your seatbelt
 Put the phone down while you drive

The Halloween enforcement effort is made possible by federal traffic safety funds administered by the portation and is part of the statewide Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over and Click It or Ticket campaigns.

  1. Same Program and jerks who, if they pull you over and had suspected DUI, get dissapointed to find you’re sober and issue a seat belt violation to make up the time lost…

    True dat…happened to me.

Awful of the CLPD to pull such a stunt—shell station 31 and 176—cop thought he had a live one in me, late at night, before a holiday, few to no cars out–so he pulls me over AFTER I entered the station to fill up—saw I was coming home from work, and was not one of the bar closers out at that hour—

since I was standing pumping gas, he said “you didnt have your seat belt on when you went by me”…

    He lied…

we both knew it, and both knew no judge in the county is going to believe the citizen.

Its a scam racket folks–usually Federally funded so OT is covered, and many times some kind of “prize” is awarded at the end of the “focus” so it pays for these cops to “cheat” a little to win a prize….

and they wonder why some want them defunded–

    its for stunts like this.

Drives the wrong behavior in police when there are awards, including lots of OT to go out and “get people”…

they should be handing out rewards to the people they pull over and find nothing wrong with, instead of a sham ticket we all know is not going to get contested, or if it does, no chance of winning…

cops are on first name basis with county judges, not the citizens.

Get the real bad guys and leave the good ones alone please.

  2. So true, BW.
If a cop wants that merit raise or promotion he/she has got to get busy
and justify his/her existence by generating revenue.
Cops used to follow me from the tollway to my front door until
it dawned on them that I was coming home from work after midnight.
It’s all a scheme/scam game the cops play to “get ahead” by screwing the unsuspecting
citizenry. They absolutely LOVE to stop a vehicle containing only the driver
as it’s the driver’s word against his when you get to court, and further, less of a chance
of the cop getting his ass kicked for pulling that shit.

  3. Things went all to hell in the 1990s when Bill Clinton and Joe Biden increased programs to funnel federal money into incentivizing various forms of arrest; Most against men for fake domestic disputes, but also for a number of other ways that the government gets to look up everyone’s rear end. It’s only gotten worse. So while I generally support the police for defending law and order, I do not support the government re-purposing tax money to grow a system to weaponize the police against the people.

This is just one such example, in a situation where government has INCENTIVIZED alcohol abuse and legal access to government weed this year; highly taxed substances that you can even now purchase from the curb (at least in the case of alcohol). They kill the jobs but continue to raise taxes, crush the people with joblessness and depression and encourage substance abuse, and now send the police out in full force to further abuse the people after the politicians have run the people into the ground with this sham pandemic.

If the police have enough time to just tailgate honest individuals, then it’s really likely that they really are being utilized for the wrong purposes. It’s been said that the police force has been shrinking in general, but the type of work that they are doing may need to be evaluated after all. But unlike what the Democrats will tell you, it’s not a “race issue”. They simply just love to publicize the alleged plight of POCs because it helps them gain election votes and keep people stupid and watching mainstream news.

  4. As an addendum I’d like to add that it’s not just the cops,
the courts are in on the strongarm coercion too.

I’ve witnessed it myself, and that makes them coconspirators.

  5. Did the stopped driver in the above photo get a ticket for driving an English/Irish car with the driver on the right side?

  6. Yes Abe, getting followed is a fav of this bunch.

I recall when playing very late night Hockey games I would tell other players, “on the way home (after midnight on a weeknight) keep your hockey bag in the back seat, not the trunk, and your hockey stick in the front seat”…why they would ask?

Because when the cops follow you and eventually pull you over, suspecting they got a “live one” at this hour–they’ll see your stuff and stick and know you werent coming from an all night drinking session at a bar somewhere.

Worked for me no less than 4 times.

Especially in the McHenry County towns known for pulling people over.

Couple of times the cops actually thanked me for doing something good at that hour.

Its just when these Federally funded programs are in swing, I think they tend to write anyone they pull over up for something, anything, to get on the prize board or to keep the OT coming.
