Unoccupied Turnberry Home Undergoing Renovation Burns

From the Crystal Lake Fire Department:

STRUCTURE FIRE

Lakewood, IL – This morning around 9:13 AM, the Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department responded to a structure fire in a single-family residence located at 7116 Inverway Drive.

There were so many sirens driving past our home on Lake Avenue that I went out to see what was going on.

Prior to arrival it was reported that the house well-involved in fire from the second floor.

The Mutual Aid Box Alarm System (MABAS) was activated for additional assistance.

This Crystal Lake engine was one of many that sped by.

The first crews on the scene confirmed the heavy fire conditions and initiated defensive operations due to the amount of fire and instability of the structure.

The fire was declared under control at 11:04.

The loss is estimated at $350,000.

The residence has been unoccupied while undergoing some renovations.

The cause of the fire is under investigation but not believed to be suspicious.

There were no civilian injuries reported and one firefighter sustained a minor injury at the scene.

The Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department was assisted by the Lakewood and Crystal Lake Police Departments, as well as fire agencies from Algonquin, Barrington-Countryside, Cary, Elgin, Fox River Grove, Huntley, Marengo, McHenry, Nunda, Union, Spring Grove, Wauconda, West Dundee, and Wonder Lake

The Salvation Army also provided assistance.

    i’m sure they will be moving out of state now….
