Pinocchio Plays Role in Tax Hike Fight

Opponent “Coalition to Stop the Proposed Tax Hike Amendment” uses Pinocchio to drive home the point that “Springfield politicians have a long history of breaking promises.”

Listed on the oversized postcard below (longer than my scanner bed) are

  • 1994 – “We’ll reduce the pension liability.’
  • 1997 – College Illinois: “Sound business practices not followed.”
  • 2011 – Another “temporary” tax hike.
  • 2017 – Tax hike will reform property taxes, pensions…”
  • 2020 – “We need new taxing powers.”

On the back of the postcard, Constitutional Amendment opponents argue passage would

  • Give Mike Madigan and other government insiders new powers to RAISE YOUR TAXES
  • DAMAGE ILLINOIS’ ECONOMY, driving more business, jobs, and people out of out state
  • NOT PROTECT MIDDLE CLASS FAMILIES from higher taxes

The imagery reminds me of the Lying Jack Franks caricature on signs during this election:

  1. If you DO vote, your taxes could go up.

    It is a given.

That’s the playbook for the enslavement.

  2. Pinocchio: If you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor.

If you like your health care plan, you can keep your health care plan.

The Illinois Lottery proceeds will go to education/schools.

  3. DO YOU KNOW WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU on 7-1-14 ? ? ?

Here is what happened on July 1st 2014:

Top Income Tax bracket went from 35% to 39.6%

Top Income Payroll Tax went from 37.4% to 52.2%

Capital Gains Tax went from 15 % to 28%

Dividend Tax went from 15% to 39.6%

Estate Tax went from 0% to 55%

These taxes were all passed under the Affordable
Care Act, otherwise known as Obama Care .

All these taxes were passed with only Democrat votes.

Not one Republican voted to do these taxes.

    Remember this..
