Reick and Sager Trade Mail

Both incumbent Republican State Rep. Steve Reick and challenger Brian Sager sent mail that arrived yesterday.

Here is what residents saw:

Issues affecting local residents are highlighted here.
Legislative work is explained on the postcard’s back.

Sager’s piece emphasizes Reick’s negatives:

Sager ties Reick to Mike Madigan.
Sager cites Reick’s votes for tax hikes and his (invalid) claim that he cut real estate taxes while Woodstock Mayor.

  1. The race in the 63rd is pathetic.

Neither of these candidates inspire confidence they’ll have an impact in Springfield, and Reick has been there two terms and none of his legislation has come close to becoming law (otherwise, he’d have said so).

And Sager’s math on tax cuts has been proven wrong by solid analytics, but Reick didn’t take that route.

If there were a “None of the above” option, I think it’d win.

  2. Oh AlabamaShake, reading/comprehension is not your strong suit.

Go back and click your link, and your 6 becomes 2.

Four of the bills originated in the Senate, and he was the perfunctory House sponsor, so throw those out.

You’re right about two, and I should amend my initial comment to the bills he cited on his campaign mailer did not become law, which is accurate.

It’s one thing to introduce a bill, it’s another thing to get it passed.

My grasp/use of facts is not perfect but sound.

  3. Don’t forget the “Plastic Bag” tax Sager had us pay in Woodstock !

This two faced, son of a gun wouldn’t hesitate on future taxes.

  4. I don’t blame Reick for not getting anything passed by a totally Democratic controlled legislature.

But I do blame him for being a drunk and atheist and Trump hater.

He’s part of the swamp. The swamp that needs to be tossed.

    Ok, Sager is a PoS.

Glad I don’t have to vote in that one.

  5. I just want a state representative who doesn’t publicly soil his trousers weekly or hang out at public parks lying in wait for gay sex partners.

  6. **Go back and click your link, and your 6 becomes 2. Four of the bills originated in the Senate, and he was the perfunctory House sponsor, so throw those out.**

LOL – that is not how things work.

You’re aware that bills do not just automatically pass the second chamber, right?

Especially Republican bills in the House?

**My grasp/use of facts is not perfect but sound.**

I mean… your comment was blatantly false, but sure, other than that, the grasp/use is sound.

  7. **he was the perfunctory House sponsor**

You really don’t understand how the legislative process works if you think that the sponsor in the second chamber is “perfunctory.”

This is such a bad understanding of how bills get passed.

  8. AlabamaShake, I’m aware, and 3 of the 4 DID pass the second chamber (House), without amendment.

The Hutchinson Bill had to have an amendatory veto overridden but the real work took place in the Senate, and House followed suit.

OK, 3 bills, but Hutchinson Bill not his idea.

Remember, we dinged Skillicorn because his only passed legislation were 2nd-chamber sponsorship bills, but Reick has 2-3 bills become law in his first 2 terms.

Still a lot less than 6.

  9. No.

He had 6 bills pass in his first two terms.

    That is a fact.

You may choose to give him no or less credit for them (for silly reasons that show you don’t understand how the process works), but the facts are explicitly clear.

6 of the bills that Reick was the chief sponsor on became law.

Your statement – “Reick has been there two terms and none of his legislation has come close to becoming law” – was blatantly false.

Keep trying to justify your false statements.

But you’re just flat out wrong here.

  10. Well I am voting for Reick….

I am not happy his approach on Gun control and our 2 amendment rights…

other than that I believe he is doing what we hired him for…

maybe he’s not doing it the way you think it should be done..

but He is getting it done……..

So he has a drink now and then ..

.BFD, how many of you guys drink?

He is way better than the Alternative….

  11. **So he has a drink now and then…BFD, how many of you guys drink?**

The drinking isn’t as much the problem as the driving.
