And @LaurenUnderwood ran nearly all her campaign ads touting President Trump signed 3 of her legislation into law (only the Veterans bill actually signed by POTUS) and she embellished what insulin bill really did. @JimOberweis in good company pursuing Trump supporters in #IL14!
Put another way, Underwood supporters cannot have it both ways.
Unlike Sean Casten, Underwood never attacked President Trump in her fall TV campaign, because she knew she was targeting Trump voters, and the IL-14 split its ticket in 2018.
Oh (2nd comment, 9:23PM 11/2), don’t gloat about the lack of ratings changes in the IL-14. The ratings people, especially the two I use more than most (Cook, Sabato), don’t get them all right (they’re the first to tell you).
They also rely on released/published polls, and neither Underwood or Oberweis released any of their internals.
The House Majority super PAC was clearest sign Underwood in trouble, and why they spent the $560K running broadcast TV ads the last two weeks of the campaign (and they ran the full two weeks of ad buys, instead of stopping after week 1 so their polling showed Underwood needed the help).
And did you notice, the hit piece from House Majority super PAC did not bash President Trump or link Oberweis with the President?
Only Oberweis (see previous comment).
Additionally, Underwood’s grassroots campaign has been questionable, with little door-to-door campaigning and highly questionable mailings from far Left special interest groups like Planned Parenthood and the Teachers unions, not going to play well with voters either.
Oberweis supporters have been on the ground, knocking on thousands of doors.
Oberweis himself doing door-to-door, too.
Oberweis not mixing with radical fringe groups.
Clearly not the IL-13 and the likely $20 million spent there, over $11 million in super PAC spending, but IL-14 is competitive and Oberweis has solid chance to pull off the upset.
And one other thing in my previous comment…
Oberweis has had commercials running on broadcast TV the last week and half prior to Election Day, with two different ads.
Oberweis still competing for votes on TV (and spending his own money to do it) sign race is competitive.
