Algonquin Township Has Settlement of Edgar County Watchdog Freedom of Information Suit on Wednesday Agenda

The Algonquin Township Board delayed in paying the attorney’s fees and settlement for the Road District in its Freedom of Information case with the Edgar County Watchdogs (publisher of Illinois Leaks) and it cost an extra $15,000.

The original October, 2018, settlement amount brought by Highway Commissioner Andrew Gasser was $40,000.

But, because this amount was not paid promptly, the final check was for $55,000–an additional $5,000 for each of the three months before Judge Thomas Meyer ordered the payment taken directly from the Road District’s checking account.

Judge Meyer found there were eight failures of Township Clerk Karen Lukasik to comply with the Freedom of Information Act.

Now, the Board having a Special Meeting Wednesday at which the “settlement of litigation with Kirk Allen and John Kraft and Kirk Allen” is on the agenda.

Allen and Kraft are the principals of the Edgar County Watchdogs.

The settlement amount of $100,000 was undoubtedly discussed at the last meeting of the Board on October 16, 2020,, but in secret.

The Board adjourned without taking action.

In December of 2018 settlement offers of $45,000 apiece were made to both the Road District and the Township.

In addition, as you can see below, the levy for the Road District and Town Fund will be discussed:

  1. Way to go Dogs!!!

Set your sights on Nunda, McHenry and Grafton Townships.

These are more dens of corruption, stupidity and waste.

  2. How can Lukasik still be screwing up?

Why can’t she be removed for malfeasance?

  3. Piling on works sadly.

You’ll never find a better example of 2 dudes taking advantage of a law to put some unearned tax payers dollars into their pockets.

  4. Going by word of mouth or have you seen voth of their irs statements Cal?

American’s don’t do things for free, even you should understand that fact.

  5. They are a not-for-profit, so I believe IRS documents are public.

  6. Did you ever pile on with hundreds of files requested almost at the same time Cal?

You live here and have vested interest which works.

They don’t, they saw a weakness and jumped on it.

    Your $150k hero’s?
