McHenry County Clerk Says About 2,000 Votes Outstanding

I had some extra time this morning before the food 1:30 distribution at The Chapel on the south end of McHenry next to the Waste Management yard on Route 31, so I went to Woodstiock.

There Election Judge Liz didn’t want her photo taken while checking signatures on ballot envelopes. A man with a hat indicated he was a Veteran took exception, too, so no photos from that room.

When the action moved to where the uncounted ballots were, McHenry County Clerk Joe Tirio joined the action.

He unlocked the drop boxes and judges emptied their contents. Some people used their mail-in envelopes, some just the inner envelope.

At one point a woman from DuPage County asked Tirio about how many ballots were outstanding.

His answer was “about 2,000,”

And, of course, there will be a trickle of ballots that have been postmarked on Election Day, but not delivered yet.

So folks trying to figure out if election results are going to change can start with that figure.

Certainly, with Jack Franks behind Mike Buehler by 8,550 votes, there is no way that Franks can win.

McHenry County Clerk Says About 2,000 Votes Outstanding — 23 Comments

  1. Thank you Cal for going the extra mile and providing classic journalism as well as your service with food distribution.

Glad to hear Joe Tirio was on top of things as well!

  2. I have no doubt the McHenry county clerks office will do a fine job.

Can’t speak for other counties but I wouldn’t expect any bs here.

  3. Question – I know that they have ballots that they have counted but not reported.

Are those counted in the 2,000 outstanding votes?

  4. Tirio is a first class fool. No wonder the GOP is a bunch of perpetual ninnies winning about being outsmarted all the time by a bunch of low IQ Ward heelers .

And to those fools who object to being photographed during their official duties….. they can go to hell!

  5. How can Joe Tirio be so nonchalant about the effort to cheat Underwood in?

  6. Joe, I really wish you would update the vote counts daily instead of waiting until the 17th or whenever the deadline is.

  7. One lesson to be learned from all this.

We should never do an election with this many mail in ballots ever again.

Even if anything is on the up and up it just creates a mess and allows for all sorts of problems.

  8. Joe Tirio – I know the 2,000 number.

But my understanding is that you counted a bunch of ballots since Tuesday but haven’t reported them yet in the reults.

    Is that true?

And are those ballots included in the 2,000?

  9. Also, yes, what correcting said.

You REALLY should report as you go rather than wait until the end.

It would help people trust the system more.

  10. One more – your link says 2,900 ballots (not near 2,000). Are you not including the provisionals in your “near 2000” number?

  11. This entire process is a disgrace.

Perhaps a glimpse into the future of elections in this country.

  12. Don’t worry!

Jack Franks will personally see that the remaining 16k will be returned with his name on it.

We should have a complete overhaul of our election system.

    No early voting.

No voting by mail. Too many possibilities for fraud or errors.

Elections for State and National offices (president, senate, representative) should be on a Sunday. First Sunday in November and a national holiday

Only voting IN-PERSON at polling places on first Sunday in November. Anyone who cannot physically vote in person for whatever reason (sick, in hospital, traveling, etc) is out of luck. Absolutely no way, no chance for them to vote by mail, at a later date, etc.

A universal process is needed for all states to purge those who die from voting rolls within a short amount of time. A process is also needed to quickly update voter rolls when a person moves and changes his/her place of residence address or changes his/her name.

Every voter would need to re-register to vote and PROVE who they are and that they are a U.S. Citizen. Every voter would provide biometrics and photo ID and these would be used at the time of voting.

  14. Why are these county clerks such wimps.

    I falsely imagined
    Joe Tirio was good.

  15. This was an orchestrated Democrat wet dream.

Coronavirus was the tool used to further divide the nation with Democrat city scams on the voting process.

Rod Blago was just on TV telling the world how the blue cities have been doing this for years, only this year it was cheating on steroids.

He said Obama would vouch for the way they do it, close down the polling places, stop the counting and rig it in the middle of the night.

trump winning when we went to bed and losing when we woke up.

Oh well, may the best cheater win, like the Cubs, better luck next time.

  16. JoeTirio is a good man. But why’d he give into their vote scams.

  17. You who say no mail-in ballots should be allowed would have prevented me and millions of others serving in military and civilian capacities overseas from voting over the years.

Kids at college couldn’t vote in their home elections.

The Kolbach commission appointed by the president after the last election found no evidence of fraud.

Every local clerk of both parties is saying the same thing: no evidence of fraud having any effect on results.

As to the media calling the races, they’ve done that in every election for long before any of us were born.

Their “calling” isn’t official of course and there are famous examples of wrong calls.

    That means nothing.

The last of the votes will be counted, recounts will take place, claims of irregularities will be investigated, and results will be certified.

    This happens every election.

Trying to discredit the voting system undermines our democracy, and our standing in the world.

Trump is as elected in 2016 in a free, fair, imperfect election.

Now Biden has been (yes, officially only when the last votes are counted and the totals certified).
