Obituary

Charles S. Wheeler “Chuck”, age 63, of McHenry, Illinois, passed away on Thursday, November 12, 2020, at home.

He was born on January 14, 1957, to Charles M. Wheeler, Jr., and Susan E. (Nial) Wheeler in Chicago, Illinois.

Chuck was a dedicated government employee and the first African American man to serve on the McHenry County Board.

He was passionate, stood up for what he believed in and was a strong voice for the people.

Chuck loved to travel especially to Arizona and Hawaii, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend.

Chuck is survived by his wife, Susan Wheeler; stepdaughter, Ashley (David) Muller; grandchildren, David and Makayla Muller.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Susan Wheeler.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the American Diabetes Association. ​

Visitation will be on Thursday, November 19, 2020, at Justen Funeral Home 3700 W Charles J. Miller Road in McHenry, IL from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM, service to follow at 7:00 PM.

In accordance with public gathering restrictions, attendees are expected to wear a mask and observe social distancing. The funeral home staff will monitor capacity limits and allow up to 25 people in at a time.
