From the Harvard Police Department:
UNLAWFUL USE OF CREDIT CARD
On 11-13-20 at 1350 hrs, an Employee (m-47 yoa) of the Moose Lodge,
22500 Route 173, Harvard reported someone had been using the company credit card without permission over the past several weeks making unauthorized purchases.
Under Investigation.
Maybe it was the reporting employee.
I quit the McHenry Moose long ago when they caught the Manager with his hand in the till and woudn’t prosecute.
They did fire him though, but he wound up managing another Moose!
That was in the 90s.
A lot of these Lodges, including VFWs end up with employees that dip into the till, make unauthorized expenses, get caught, nothings done and they move on to the next unsuspecting lodge or VFW, American Legion.
Its almost a racket, given the members and officers are volunteers and rely on the bartenders, cooks, to kind of run things for them.
IT can be easy pickings with lax overseeing and audits—the one thing common is the perps tend to just jump to another state and do the same thing at that Lodge, Legion, etc.
Not sure why more dont press charges to the end, probably has to do with embarrassment, knowing they wont get paid back and just want to move on.
