Mother Charged With DUI and Child Endangerment in Two Vehicle Crash
On November 17, 2020 at 6:35 p.m., the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, Lakewood Police Department, Huntley Police Department, and the Huntley Fire Protection District, responded to a two vehicle crash involving a 2014 Ford Escape and a 2007 Toyota Tacoma on Illinois Route 47 at Foster Road, in unincorporated Huntley.
On scene investigation indicated that the Ford, driven by Melissa E. Sanchez, 37, of Highland Park, was traveling southbound on Illinois Route 47 and crashed into the rear of the Toyota, driven by a 23-year old Union man, which was stopped in traffic attempting to turn east onto Foster Road.
Alcohol was believed to be a contributing factor for the crash.
Sanchez was transported to Northwestern Huntley Hospital for minor injuries.
Her two juvenile children, who were in child restraints, were evaluated by EMS and were later turned over to a family member.
The driver of the Toyota was evaluated by EMS and refused further medical treatment.
The road was shut down for short period of time while first responders worked the scene.
Sanchez was issued five notice to appear citations and DCFS was notified of the incident.

The charges against this individual are merely allegations against them. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
