Lakewood Garage Fire

From the Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department:

STRUCTURE FIRE

Lakewood, IL – At approximately 4:49 PM, the Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department responded to a fire in an attached garage located at 260 Richmond Lane, Lakewood, IL.

The homeowners discovered the fire after describing what sounded like an explosion in the garage and called 911.

Within two minutes of being dispatched, the first Crystal Lake fire units were on the scene and reported smoke coming from the area of the garage of a two-story, single family home.

The fire crews quickly attacked the fire containing it to the garage.

Fire crews then checked for any extension of the fire into the attic area above the garage.

The fire was declared under control within 30 minutes.

Estimated damage is at $10,000.

There were no injuries to the occupants or firefighters.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The American Red Cross is assisting the occupants in their fire recovery.

The Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department was assisted by several area fire departments.
