From Patch comes this beginning of a story:

ILLINOIS — As Congress continues to discuss a possible second stimulus package, Gov. J.B. Pritzker has demanded support for restaurants and bars, which have been badly hit by the coronavirus pandemic.

“Millions of Americans have lost their jobs because certain businesses, through no fault of their own, had to shut down or severely downsize because this virus can spread more easily in those settings than in others,” Pritzker said during Tuesday’s new briefing.

So, whose fault was it that the bars and restaurants were closed?

  1. Did you know that the restaurant industry all across the country is struggling, even in places where the government hasn’t mandated significant shut downs?

  2. Alabama isn’t wrong about what he is saying, but it does depend on the area.

Especially in Chicago, they could let the restaurants open at 100% and they would still be struggling.

The problem for the city at least is the customers are not there.

No commuters in the loop and no business people in town for a convention.

Out in the burbs it is different. People would be coming out if the restaurants were open.
