Township Officials’ Salaries – Chemung

Trying to put up the salaries for township officials for the current term and the coming term.

The information for Chemung Township (by population, primarily Harvard) follows:

2017-2012

  • Supervisor – from $14,935 in 2017 to $16,320 in 2021, plus $250 for being Treasurer of the Road District
  • Road Commissioner – $61,065 in 2017 to $66,730 in 2021
  • Assessor – $49,250 in 2017 to $53,820 in 2021
  • Clerk – $,975 in 2017 to $6,530 in 2021
  • Trustees – $1,200 ($100 for each meeting attended)

The Highway Commissioner and Assessor also received $900 a month for health insurance and have a pension through the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund. The Supervisor will also be in IMRF.

2021-25

  • Supervisor – $16,810 in 2021 to $18,370 in 2025
  • Road Commissioner – $67,730 in 2021 to $70,825 in 2025
  • Assessor – $57,050 in 2021 to $63,550 in 2025
  • Clerk – $6,630 in 2021 to $6,930 in 2025
  • Trustees – $1,200

The Highway Commissioner and Assessor also will receive $1,000 per month for health insurance and be enrolled in IMRF.

The Supervisor will also be enrolled in the same pension system.

  1. Townships always seem to be voting pay raises for a very part time job.

    What about the gold plated health insurance and nepotism.

    And trips to Disneyland on the township credit card?

  2. Why are so many township officials morbidly obese, stroke-prone, and RINOs?

  3. Townships are so necessary, 20% of Illinois counties don’t have them.
