Brother Christopher Trimpe Charged with Stealing Over $10,000 from Poor at Resurrection Catholic Church

Crystal Lake Man Arrested for Theft

Christopher C. Trimpe, 59, of Crystal Lake, was arrested today and charged with theft.

A criminal investigation began in January 2020, after the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by the Diocese of Rockford regarding the misappropriation of funds from a financial account managed by the Resurrection Catholic Church located in the 2900 block of Country
Club Road, in unincorporated Woodstock.

It was reported that financial irregularities were discovered within the parish’s outreach program account, which is used to assist the less fortunate.

During the investigation Brother Christopher Trimpe, the churches business manager was identified as a suspect.

It is alleged that since 2014, Trimpe has used funds from the account, in excess of $10,000 but under $100,000, for his own personal use.

On December 1, 2020 a warrant of arrest was issued for Trimpe.

Today with the assistance of the Great Lake Regional Fugitive Task Force, Trimpe was taken into custody without incident and transported to the McHenry County Adult Correctional Facility where he is being held on a $40,000 bond.
