The last year the Bob Miller was Algonquin Township Highway Commissioner, his tax levy was $3,926,154.
There were six funds for which taxes were requested:
- Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund – $126,909
- Road and Bridge – $2,576,100
- Equipment and Building – $1,106,323
- Audit – $10,178
- Liability Insurance – $35,556
- Social Security – $31,088
Four years later, his replacement, Andrew Gasser, asked for $3,531,678.
The money was divided between two funds:
- Road and Bridge – $2,781,678
- Equipment and Building – $750,000
That is $394,476 less than Miller’s last tax levy.
It amounts to a bit over a 10% cut.
Does the $amount of legal fees spent by Gasser equal the $amount of savings?
Just wondering đ€
Does that include incurred legal fees?
As Paul Revere was shouting the Millers are coming, the Millers are coming, he couldnât see that the levy is the total tax imposed by the king and there is a difference between the tax imposed and how itâs spent.
During Revereâs midnight ride Miller fleased the public purse with family trips, Disneyland toys wine, and letâs not forget gift cards.
Ride on Revere!
Alert the citizens that Lee is coming!
Bravo, in the short run he saved me $15.00 a year, but the long term effect of his term in office isn’t going to be pretty.
When Gasser got elected and started playing political games like firing employees without cause, suiting everybody, and etc, etc, at a board meeting Dan Shea predicted the costs to tax payers would exceed $1,000,000.00.
Dan gave a conservative estimate.
So he cut funding as he expanded the road district responsibilities by taking over maintenance responsibility for some of the townships under sized Private roads, wouldn’t that mean spending less per mile which in the long run will lead to crapper roads?
I true American political hack, Andrew Gasser is getting the biggest paycheck of his life, yet spends more time away from the job than doing it.
Bravo Andy, Cal Skinner is proud to be one of your supporters.
McH Co Blog is as bias as the NWH is, as both of their hero’s, Andy and Jack, cut their levies 10%.
Letâs not have revisionist history and pretend Gasser did anything but waste tax dollars on frivolous lawsuits and collect a paycheck while he was in Mississippi the majority of the time.
Good job, except the county could do it for half that price.

Alanâs accuracy and fairness are unmatched in McHenry County and most of Illinois.â
COMPLETE. LIE. NOT EVEN REMOTELY TRUE.
What sucks is when you contact the actual Illinois Department of Revenue to get numbers. And your numbers ainât so good, Al.
The Sales Ratio for Grafton was 33.6% in 2013, the year before Al took office. Since then, the official numbers:
2014: 31.16%
2015: 29.06%
2016: 28.62%
2017: 29.24%
2018: 29.29%
2019: 30.58%
That is not even close to the IDORâs supposed target, and not even close to Alâs numbers on this post. And for reference here are some links to the ACTUAL IDOR docs..

Zielinski is clearly not the best in McHenry.
It is comedic how you blatantly lie over these. Whatâs even worse is when you had your shot at the big chair in Boone County, you screwed the numbers up so bad the State had to come in and apply an equalizer. (It is bad when the state comes in.) And you were there just a short time.
And donât even bother pitching the Coefficient of Dispersion. When you have lots of sales data to draw from, and a uniformity in housing, your COD will be LOWER. You have one of the most uniform sets of homes in McHenry County. You have a chunk of Del WebbâŠwhich is nothing but ranch homes.
And letâs not forget, you commit stupid acts like Sales Chasing. You reassess any recently sold homes to the sales price, instead of performing mass appraisals on all homes like you are supposed to. Homes that have recently sold in Del Webb have really gotten screwed, being assessed anywhere from 10 to 20% higher than homes around them. This process is shot down by other certified assessors, Illinois Courts, and the IAAO, yet you double down on your idiocy.
Cut the lies Al.
â3. Alan has repeatedly proven his commitment to Grafton Townshipâs property owners.â
No, youâve committed to yourself and no one else. Letâs count the ways:
– From 2015 to 2019, your 1.4 acre lakefront address went up just 3%. By comparison, Other homes got jacked anywhere from 30% to 100% for the Quadrennial. There is a smaller home, on a plot less than your just up the lake that is valued more than $50k more. That is horses*&t.
– In 2018, the value of your address miraculously dropped 24% on appeal. AgainâŠfor a lakefront parcel across from a golf course clubhouse. A form in the appeal paperwork was the same one your office used. And your office punted on fighting it. Anyone else here with lakefront parcels that got that kind of drop? Anyone?
– You bought computers from a vendor that took you golfing. And you lied about how they had taken you golfing. When the vendor was the higher bid one month, then âmiraculouslyâ dropped their bid after the Township board wanted to go with another vendor with a lower bid. (A purchase you signed off on and then recanted.) The whole computer debacle nearly got the township sued. You donât see this idiocy elsewhere. That is not due to the Township Board. That is because of you.
– You go after your opponent because she is working in Elgin Township. You also talk about full commitment. I will state again, YOU WERE WORKING FULL TIME AT BOONE COUNTY AND DIDNâT QUIT THE GRAFTON JOB. Until for some reason you werenât at Boone. And youâve continued to apply for other county assessor jobs. This spin is so pathetic.
– While weâre on the topic of commitmentâŠYOU RUN A BAJILLION SIDE BUSINESSES INCLUDING ASSESSMENTBUSTERS.COM. There is Fast Appraisers. Rent a COO. You are also barely in the office. also If you want to prove otherwise, start a log book that a third party can verify.
– You wasted taxpayer dollars on an overnight trip to ROCKFORD. People in this area commute twice the distance for work and donât stay overnight somewhere.
– Oh and letâs remember something elseâŠyou cut the Lakewood Village Presidentâs home by nearly HALF. Somehow you are so diligent in catching bad assessments, but this one slipped through. And that was a neighborhood YOU assessed. Howâd that happen Al?
Are you really going to try and sell this? Need I remind you, the last time you had the same opponent, you offered her a job if she were to drop out. Classy.
We know who you are Al. A lying grifter. Go away. We are going to fire you soon.

Couldn’t we just find the total amount he saved/cut and total amount he spent on lawsuits and subtract to find out what the difference is instead of guessing and wondering?
How much did he save over those 4 years?
How much money was spent on lawsuits (including backpay and any associated costs) in those 4 years?
Gasser is good.
Wrong Metis, Gasser is EXCELENT.
The only revisionist history is that of the Miller Family fleecing.
Well done Mr. Gasser.
It’s not often that we have a local elected official who keeps his word.
We are lucky to have you as one of those rare fighters.
Let the haters say what they want.
They can’t steal someone’s integrity.
Gasser is the best.
The Millers messed.
Al is (or was) a Scientologist.
Tells you something!
(Psst. Hey, Cal, I don’t think that guy on your blog is the REAL Uncle Meatball…)
Correcting,
Imitation is the best form of flattery. đ
