If we can get the vaccines distributed we can outrace it.
Howvever, that is not happening because Trump stopped trying to deal with it and just dumped the vaccines on the states and is letting them sink or swim while he tries to reverse the election results and golf.
At the rate we are going it would take years rather than months to get to everyone.
Some states will do better than others, thereby creating a disparity between states.
We will probably need to be re vaccinated periodically like we do for the flu as more mutations arise.
However, the method of immunizing is different from the past where we used dead or partial versions of a virus to stimulate immunity.
This time we are synthesizing a template for the protein spike that the virus uses to attach itself to cells so that may be more durable against potential mutations.
With the nursing homes being in the first wave of vacinations, we should be seeing a dramatic decline in deaths in a few weeks. That will make it more obvious to the public to what extent it is affecting the general population and how new mutations are affecting us.
I would have to say that I do agree with Mitch McConnell that we need more targeted approach to stimulus funds so they go to the people who most need them rather than just throwing money at everyone.
However, I am not sure if the bill just passed does this.
