Earlier this week McHenry County Blog pointed out the hypocrisy of Illinois Congressman Adam Kinzinger’s antipathy toward President Donald Trump.
When Kinzinger thought he had a chance to be appointed Secretary of Defense, the ambitious politician kissed up to Trump.
Once rejected, however, a drumbeat of criticism ensued.
Now, he calls for Trump’s immediate ouster.
Kinzinger’s obvious goal is to establish himself as the anti-Trump candidate for either Governor or the U.S. Senate.
He is succeeding in reaching that goal.
Whether that will be helpful electorally or not, remains to be seen.
Cal –
1. It was Air Force Secretary, not DOD.
2. AFTER he did not get nominated for Air Force Secretary, he still voted against impeaching Trump. That kind of tosses cold water on your theory that he’s a spurned representative. “Once rejected, however, a drumbeat of criticism ensued. Now, he calls for Trump’s immediate ouster.”
3. Maybe he’s not a hypocrite. Maybe he’s tries to puts country above party.
4. Maybe he recognizes the role that Trump played which caused multiple resignations from Trump’s cabinet and Trump’s administration and multiple calls of condemnation from former cabinet members as well as from Trump’s prior own chief of staffs.
Person A supports person B. Person B goes on to do awful horrible things. If Person A denounces the awful horrible things that Person B did, then it does not make that Person A a hypocrite.
Throw out Nos. 3 & 4, and throw out the Capitol Riots:
So playing Oh’s mental gymnastics, if Person A supports President B and votes 92% for President B (including against impeachment), then turns on President B, do you accept he’s not a hypocrite even if President B does questionable things?
Think it through, Oh. Does Person A need to explain the 92% voting record? Does Person A must admit he was wrong to vote that way?
He “turned on him” like like Betsy DeVos, Elaine Chao, Mick Mulvaney, Matthew Pottinger, John Costello, Tyler Goodspeed, Stephanie Grisham, Rickie Niceta, and Sarah Matthews. Do they all need to explain themselves?
He “turned on him” like James Mattis, Richard Spencer, John Bolton, John Kelly, H.R. McMaster, Tom Bossert, Omarosa Manigault Newman, Anthony Scaramucci, Gary Cohn, Ty Cobb, Rex Tillerson, and Jeff Sessions?
He “turned on him” like like Mitt Romney and Ben Sasse.

It doesn’t take mental gymnastics to support someone 92% of the time then stop supporting them after they do something truly awful.
For the life of me, I will never, ever, ever understand why people feel the need to be so loyal to Trump when Trump has shown time and time again to throw anyone and everyone under the bus when it’s convenient. It’s so weird and cultish.
