IL-15: Congresswoman Mary Miller Apologizes for Inflammatory Remarks

Mary Miller

Statement from Congresswoman Mary Miller (R, IL-15) on January 8, 2021:

“Earlier this week, I spoke to a group of mothers about the importance of faith and guarding our youth from destructive influences.

“I sincerely apologize for any harm my words caused and regret using a reference to one of the most evil dictators in history to illustrate the dangers that outside influences can have on our youth.

“This dark history should never be repeated and parents should be proactive to instill what is good, true, right, and noble into their children’s hearts and minds.

“While some are trying to intentionally twist my words to mean something antithetical to my beliefs, let me be clear: I’m passionately pro-Israel and I will always be a strong advocate and ally of the Jewish community.

“I’ve been in discussion with Jewish leaders across the country and am grateful to them for their kindness and forthrightness.”

The husband of Congresswoman Miller, state Representative Chris Miller (R, 110th) was outside the Capitol attending a peaceful protest and no evidence he participated in the violence of the Capitol.

WCIA’s Mark Maxwell tweeted this video of an interview with Miller prior to the riot at the Capitol.

  1. This is what Dick Durbin said about US Troops in Gitmo in 2005:

“If I read this to you and did not tell you that it was an FBI agent describing what Americans had done to prisoners in their control, you would most certainly believe this must have been done by Nazis, Soviets in their gulags, or some mad regime–Pol Pot or others–that had no concern for human beings. Sadly, that is not the case. This was the action of Americans in the treatment of their prisoners.”

Why was Durbin not asked to resign?

  2. Durban used Hitler and the rest as examples of what is bad.

She used Hitler as an example of how do something right.

    People get pissed at that.

  3. Who was the ‘dictato’?

What did she actually say that she now grovels about denying.

  4. Martin, flat out false.

She didn’t say that Hitler did something right.

Paraphrasing, she said that his policy of brainwashing the youth was something we need to be on guard for today.

  5. Rule Number One–never use the word, “Hitler” in a sentence–(unless stating the Rule)

The Bobby Hull rule-look it up.

Using “the word” always gets used against you.

  6. You say “dictato”, I say “dictato”, let’s call the whole thing off.

  7. Let’s say we live in a jewish dictatorship with Soros, Zuckerberg, Musk, Sumner Redstone, Schumer, Pritzker, Feinstein, ad Infinitum screaming at us how to act and what to believe.

  8. Here are the words she used, if you care:

“This is the battle,” Miller said. “Hitler was right on one thing. He said, ‘Whoever has the youth has the future.’”

Here is what Fox News quoted Hitler as saying (translated, of course):

“The remark is a paraphrase of a statement the former Führer delivered during a Nazi party rally in 1935:

“He alone who owns the youth gains the future.””

  9. “Hitler” can ONLY be used by the Left/DEMOCRATS when disparaging Republicans/Conservatives.

  10. I would say the reference to Hitler is inapt, regardless of ideology.

Hitler was talking about indoctrination (no exposure to contrary viewpoints, please), not persuasion.

  11. I don’t find the remarks inflammatory at all.

Hitler cut unemployment drastically in Germany, too, while America stagnated in a Depression.

    Is that inflammatory?
