Chris Kempf Launches Campaign for Dundee Township Highway Commissioner

Nearly 50-year township resident of unincorporated Algonquin Shores, campaign launch includes endorsement from Barrington Hills Village President Marty McLaughlin, who’s also state representative-elect

As McHenry County Blog published on Thursday, township primary campaigns have begun in earnest in Algonquin, Grafton and Nunda Townships.

South of the county line from Algonquin Township in Kane County, the Dundee Township Republicans have a contested primary for township highway commissioner, where the incumbent chose not to seek reelection.

Kempf, who lives in the unincorporated Algonquin Shores neighborhood right on the McHenry-Kane county line on the east side of the Fox River, has kicked off his campaign, impressively.

His 4×4 signs are going up, with side flaps to add more information, and his campaign launched a Facebook page last month, with the following introduction:

I’m Chris Kempf, a resident of Dundee Township since 1973. I’m a candidate for Dundee Township Highway Commissioner and I’m asking for your vote in the February 23, 2021 Republican Primary.

I have the Experience Dundee Township residents can depend on!

  • 30+ years experience as an Independent Contractor in the Construction Field of Concrete & Excavating…serving our community and surrounding communities.
  • 41 year member of Algonquin Shores Property Owners Association, 19 years as President of the association.
  • Republican Committeeperson since 2002 for precinct 24 and always stood up for the hardworking taxpayers in our area. My conservative philosophy remains “Tax Less, Spend Less.”

Kempf, through a Facebook comment received the endorsement of Barrington Hills Village President Marty McLaughlin, who’ll take office as state representative for the 52nd district on Wednesday.

Kempf lives in the 52nd.

“Great to see a fiscal conservative, business person like Chris come off the sidelines to run. He’s a no BS get things done guy who will squeeze inefficiencies out of the office helping taxpayers. Go get um!”

Marty McLaughlin (R, Barrington Hills), state representative-elect 1/5/21

.

Kempf, over the past 20 years, has been known as the “sign guy” helping Republican candidates he supports posting their campaign signs in the honorable role as Republican precinct committeeperson.

Now, it’s Kempf’s name on the campaign signs.

Kempf’s campaign introductory video is impressive and can be viewed from his Facebook page here.

Chris Kempf Launches Campaign for Dundee Township Highway Commissioner — 9 Comments

  1. Just another loser.

Cut the levy like the McHenry Township did!

  2. While I know the previous comments are not personal against Mr. Kempf, I’m shaking my head.

Here you’ve got a guy, who has been politically active in the community for 22 years, nearly 20 as a Republican precinct committeeperson, helping Republicans and local candidates going as far back as 1999, and he’s being called a township “loser”?

With all the candidates vying for the Wheeler spot on the McHenry County Board, the biggest question asked in comments is their “Republican” history that was not clear on their resumes, and Kempf makes his clear and the outgoing Barrington Hills village president endorses him.

Unless they have a prior business relationship, they know each other because Mr. Kempf did the committeeperson grunt work for McLaughlin helping him win election for the open 52nd seat over 2 opponents, one nominally backed by Madigan.

Yes, I know, most want townships eliminated but right now Kane County cannot eliminate townships under the McSweeney law.

That’s why I thought it was cool, over 2 decades of helping many candidates win election, and now it’s Kempf’s name on the signs. Add what he’s done over the years to help Algonquin Shores, and while I know he has detractors in that role, when challenged on the committeeperson ballot, he wins.

    Just some observations.

  3. What’s Lopez saying?

He’s a nice guy so let him have fling at a no work or low work job and a sweet pension.

    Forget it. I

  4. Terminate The Terminator’s opinion.

Show me where I called/implied/inferred Chris Kempf is a “nice guy”.

    I didn’t.

I did say he’s a hard worker for the Republican party as well as for local elections and has been such for 22 years, and pointed out the state representative-elect for the 52nd District endorsed him due to Kempf’s hard work, as well as being a conservative and other reasons.

    Any questions?

  5. My question is why local 150 on rt 120 has Dowd signs up for Nunda Road Commissioner against the incumbent Lesperance.

I heard Dowd was a conservative, but local 150?

    What’s up with that?

  6. Its really easy to attack anyone from behind anonymous, or comment on things which are none of you concern.
