Twitter Purge / Cleansing Far Beyond President Trump

President Trump was not the only one impacted in wake of the Capitol Riots, hundreds of accounts linked to the President, and multiple Patriots and conspiracy theories suspended permanently

On Friday, Twitter began suspending accounts on its platform impacting millions of Twitter users.

While the permanent suspension of the political Twitter account of President Trump got the headlines, and it should considering it had nearly 89 million followers, many other high profile accounts were suspended, while other high profile Twitter users voluntarily deactivated their accounts.

An example of the latter is talk radio host Rush Limbaugh, who, in support of President Trump, voluntarily deactivated his account with over 1/2 million followers.

Here is the statement Twitter released concerning the President’s political Twitter account:

Full details for Twitter’s decision can be viewed here.

Other high profile users who were suspended in addition to the President’s political Twitter are:

  • L. Lin Wood (over 1.1 million followers)
  • #FightBack Foundation Law Firm
  • Sidney Powell
  • General Michael Flynn (ret.)
  • Trump Presidential Campaign (@TeamTrump)

Personally, I have a modest Twitter following and when the cleansing began, I had 1,134 followers. Now I’m down to 821.

Other users, with modest followings had similar declines.

Catalina Lauf

Locally, former IL-14 Republican candidate and McHenry County resident Catalina Lauf lost around 10,000 followers from nearly 81,000 to just over 71,000.

Many of my followers whom I lost yesterday were part of the Mighty 200+ Patriots Network, which broadcasts on livestream the Patriots in Tune podcast 5 days per week.

The Mighty 200+ was a network of Twitter users going back to the 2016 campaign whom Hillary Clinton, Bloomberg and POLITICO targeted for elimination because their network of retweet rooms had a measurable impact in 2016, and similar impacts in 2020.

On January 8, 2021, the Mighty 200+ and similar groups were cleansed / purged from Twitter.

Many of these Patriots are reorganizing on other social media platforms, including Parler, CloutHub, Discord and Hifiven among others.

Last night, Donald Trump, Jr. tweeted the following concerning the purge:

A mainstream conservative view on what happened yesterday comes from former Congressman Doug Collins (R, GA), who ran unsuccessfully in the special U.S. Senate election in November, failing to make the runoff won by Senator-elect Raphael Warnock (D, GA) on Tuesday:

Locally, please know, McHenry County Blog can be your citizens voice as it has been for over 15 years thanks to Cal Skinner.

Were you impacted by yesterday’s purge on Twitter, as well as Facebook/Instagram? Please share in comments.

Twitter Purge / Cleansing Far Beyond President Trump — 34 Comments

  1. A mass Conservative migration is underway.

Conservatives now flocking to Rumble (from YouTube) and Parler from all
other Leftist Social(ist) media, and they’re doing so in record numbers.

  2. The First Amendment only protects against government, not private, censorship.

Twitter and Facebook are private companies.

Both have the right to deny or withdraw access to their platforms unhindered by the First Amendment.

Moreover, access is usually permitted contingent upon adherence to policies established by such forums, which typically authorize withdrawal of access for non-adherence.

Indeed, to use governmental resources (such as enacting a law or obtaining a court order) to compel a private entity to sanction certain speech would itself be a violation of the First Amendment.

  3. Censorship of the President of The United States is an attack on the First Amendment!

Things are going to get mighty sporty in the coming year!

    Be prepared!

  4. Given the speed in which Twitter has wiped out what looks to be tens of thousands of users, is it fair to say they already had developed a “cancel list” and were just waiting for the right moment to pull the trigger?

  5. Big tech’s section 230 protections clearly are a problem.

You can’t be a “public forum” and politically biased at the same time, while receiving full protection from litigation; Especially when all other avenues of communication have been cut off and the only two platforms for mobile applications are both owned by companies with their own political interests to protect.

I don’t think that this is going to remain unchallenged.

Would be a modern day case where Ma Bell cut off your phone service because they didn’t like your wrongthink.

    This is GOP’s fault.

They created this monster before they all became part of the globalist uniparty.

And it’s not just communication but also extends to financial transactions.

Anyone that thinks that this is acceptable isn’t going to remain free from this forever.

  6. They really are doing you a favor.

Twitter rots the brain and makes you emotionally unstable.

  7. This isn’t an attack on free speech!

You can’t yell “fire” in a movie theater.

That’s exactly what Trump, his kids, Rudy Giuliani and others did when they spoke on January 6th.

We will never give up; we will never concede,” Trump said to thunderous applause.

“We will stop the steal. We’re going to walk down Pennsylvania Avenue, and we’re going to the Capitol…We’re going to try and give our Republicans, the weak ones…the kind of pride and boldness that they need to take back our country.”

“All of us here today do not want to see our election victory stolen by emboldened radical Democrats”.

“We will never give up. We will never concede. It will never happen. You don’t concede when there’s theft involved. Our country has had enough. We will not take it anymore.”

Many attendees followed the president’s directive to march up the National Mall toward the Capitol.

  8. Hey all of you QAnon’s, conspiracy theorists, those posting about guns, ammo, being prepared – you best watch what you are posting.

If you think you can hide behind a screen name – guess again!

    Your comments are being watched.

Remember the USA PATRIOT ACT from 2001?

Signed into law by George W. Bush.

(Uniting and Strengthening America by Providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism)

They can search your home, phone, e-mail and financial records without a court order!

They can also search blogs like this!

    Be careful what you say!

  9. LOL – lots of people on this thread who really don’t understand what “free speech” means or what the First Amendment means.

But I truly love conservatives up in arms about private corporations making their own decisions on how people can use the privately-owned internet platforms.

  10. Gay boy Lindsey shows his true rainbow colors, just like Justice Roberts.

No wonder the country is screwed up.

  11. Dianne is a leftist chump. She tries to buffalo us with her putrid lies and falsehoods.

    Get your ammo is right.

Gotta end this the only way possible. Just like ’76.

  12. Fu Dianne, Dumb Dubya was a globalist pawn and cokehead, put by Daddy Bush, an abominable leech.

  13. Trump never told people to break into the Capitol Building.

It remains to be seen exactly who were the people who did this. Of the tens of millions who voted for and supported Trump, perhaps a tiny, tiny, tiny miniscule amount were nuts. Can any politician, past or present, ascertain that 100.00 percent of her/his followers are pure and law abiding? What about the Bernie Sanders nut who fired his gun at a US Representative baseball game and critically injured Republican US Rep Steve Scalise? Nobody came along, especially Republicans, and said that because of that, that all supporters of Sanders were lunatics and evil.

Barak Hussein Obama has made incendiary remarks in the past such as:

“To bring about real change, we both have to highlight a problem and make people in power uncomfortable.”

Democrat US Rep from CA, Maxine Waters, issued violent orders on national tv to have liberals and Democrat suppporters to get in the faces of Trump Administration officials at gas stations, restaurants, etc. Then, it happened. Why was not Maxine Waters charged with inciting riots and disturbances, prosecuted and put in jail?

  14. **“To bring about real change, we both have to highlight a problem and make people in power uncomfortable.”**

    LOL – that is incendiary?

  15. I’m sure AOL will welcome back all those leaving twitter with open arms!

  16. Funny how all these Republicans are now saying the government should force Twitter to carry speech it doesn’t like, not realizing that government control over private enterprise is basically the definition of socialism.

    Something else Republicans don’t understand?

    Irony.

  17. Democrats, liberals, mostly left wing media were ok with all of the riots, fires, looting by left wingers, supporters of Democrats hundreds of times in 2020. They imply that was justified because a rogue cop killed a guy in Minneapolis. The mostly left wing media, including Chicago area, reported on tv with fires, looting, vandalism in the background that these were “PROTESTS”. The vast, vast majority of media (tv, radio, newspapers) cannot be trusted to fairly and accurately provide the facts. They are shills, handmaidens for the Democrat Party.

Bottom line. Do not trust most of media. Do not trust any Democrat.

  18. Joe Blow

I do not believe indulging those spreading deranged fantasies accepting of and resulting in violence equates to “unity”. Well, perhaps the “unity” of bedlam and chaos.

  19. Innocent Primate, you are a primate all right, but not very innocent.

Go back to your BLM wogs and do your negro idolatry thing.

If posts by alpha males offend you, hide under your bed with your black TINDR hookup.

  20. Back to Con Law 101.

In Schenk vs. United States, 249 U.S. 47 (1919) the Supreme Court announced the “clear and present danger” test; that is, speech is not protected when it is used “in such circumstances and . . . of such a nature as to create a clear and present danger that they will bring about substantive evils that [the government] has a right to prevent.” (249 U.S. at 52). This standard was clarified (some would say replaced) in Brandenburg vs. Ohio, 395 U.S. 444 (1969), in which the Court announced the “imminent lawless action” test for incitement.

To be considered incitement and thus not protected by the First Amendment, incendiary speech must

    (1) be intended to provoke imminent lawless action (not lawless action in the indefinite future) (some would refer to this as the intention and temporal prongs), and

    (2) be likely, under the circumstances, to cause such action (again, some would refer to this as the circumstantial prong). (395 U.S. at 447-48).

  21. Idiot Democrat US Rep Maxine Waters encouraged recklessness and possible violence with her statement encouraging recklessness and violence against Trump Administration officials in June 2018 as follows:

“Let’s make sure we show up wherever we have to show up. And if you see anybody from that Cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and you create a crowd. And you push back on them. And you tell them they’re not welcome anymore, anywhere.”

Afterwards there were accounts of moron Democrat followers of Waters who did indeed harass women Republican Administration officials in restaurants.

Why was not Waters charged for inciting and then prosecuted and put in jail?

  22. It may be time for Cal and John to start removing posts like Dianne’s or Alabama’s.
