Wilcox Opposes Bill to Weaken Law Enforcement

From State Senator Craig Wilcox:

‘Reform’ legislation could imperil people and communities

Springfield, IL. – 32nd District State Senator Craig Wilcox (R-Crystal Lake) issued the following statement on a massive law enforcement reform bill pending before the Illinois Legislature:

A potentially dangerous proposal will be considered by the lame duck legislature over the next few days, as the General Assembly wraps up the 101st legislative session.

This measure potentially leaves our communities open to criminal acts and violence

As it is currently written, Senate Amendment #2 to House Bill 163;

  *   Prohibits Pre-Trial Detention when an offender poses a danger to the Community At-Large.
  *   Significantly limits offenders being detained, which will pose a significant risk to victims, witnesses to crime and the community at-large.
  *   Impedes any law enforcement investigation, which will lead to less crimes being solved and no accountability for criminal perpetrators.
  *   Severely limits accountability for accomplices to murder by amending the Felony Murder Rule.
  *   Removes all due process protections for Police Officers.
  *   Forces multiple unfunded mandates on police departments with threats of funding cuts if all the mandates are not met.  This will result in less money and more cuts to departments.

Issues surrounding law enforcement, communities and crime deserve a more thorough debate.

Unfortunately, this proposal is being pushed through the process in a very hurried manner.

While proponents claim HB163-SA#2 came about because of recently highly-publicized interactions between a few police officers and individuals, the proposal generalizes all law enforcement, and is a blatant attack on our officers and their profession.

I oppose the measure as filed, and I believe all Republicans in the General Assembly do as well.

  1. But guess what Colonel?

You are in a super minority and can’t do a thing!

  2. Every law abiding citizen in Illinois is apparently in the minority.

Who is in favor of letting criminals roam free?

Every SA in the state is against this bill except Cook’s.

  3. It is still worth it.

We got votes changed on County Board by calling in with our complaints and telling Dems and Reps how to vote on things.

As Dem Pres Johnson said, “you have use constituent power.”

Call in and email both Dems and Reps.

  4. This bill is total garbage.

If the average citizen were to know what is in it they would not support it.

That’s why they are trying to sneak it through during a lame duck session with limited time.

Good laws are not snuck through when no one is looking.

  5. **Who is in favor of letting criminals roam free?**

You understand that bail is set before someone is found guilty, right?

  6. I can’t wait to see Alabama thrown into a jail with a bunch of nogs.

He can preach his drivel to them between rapes.

  7. Who can possibly support that bill?

They must be mad, and we are mad to remain in a state run by madmen.

  8. Open season on Whites.

Let the carjackings, rapes and looting begin!

  9. Open seasons on Whites.

  10. Opportunity.

For those agitating for more violence here you go.

This is a profoundly American moment of taking personal responsibility for your own safety without the support of civil public law enforcement.

A devolving society led by backward liberals is just opportunity.
