After Failing to Get Needed 60 Votes to Be Re-Elected House Speaker in Caucus Test Vote, Madigan Steps Back

Mike Madigan soon to be dethroned?

Here is Mike Madigan’s statement:

“This is not a withdrawal.

“I have suspended my campaign for Speaker.

“As I have said many times in the past, I have always put the best interest of the House Democratic Caucus and our members first.

“The House Democratic Caucus can work to find someone, other than me, to get 60 votes for Speaker.”

  1. “As I have said many times in the past, I have always put the best interest
of the House Democratic Caucus and our members first”, and therein lies the problem
with the Evil Leprechaun and the DEMOPCRATS.

They chose to put the “interests” of their corrupt party over the good of the people
    of Illinois.

Thanks for finally admitting that well known fact, Mike.

  2. Don’t count him out.

He’s a lot more centrist than ALL alternatives.

    some GOP are floating deals.

  3. Madigan definitely needs to go, but at least he was smart enough to play the long game and bury some of the crazier bills.

If we get some ultra liberal in there, watch out.

The Republicans should stay out of this and force the Dems to come up with 60 votes on their own.

An added bonus might be a paralyzed House that can’t do anything because it can’t elect a Speaker.
